Where to buy a large tank?

I posted previously about my friend wanted to buy a large tank, but no one has anything used, so, where do you recommend buying one new? Looking for a 240g or up. Glass cages I'm told is ehh.. And that's the only one I really know about. What else is out there?

Have you tried calling up vendors or pet stores to find out pricing and availability?

Most places say over 210gallon they cannot get... But have not tried everywhere yet. Used would be so much better because it would be a lot of money to save, but i still have a few more lfs to call...

Just checking if anyone recommends any place over another. I know good places for products and good places for corals...not tanks though...

It's kind of hard to keep large tanks in stock. Takes up place and its a lot of money up front if it does not sell.
Maybe try calling up Fishtown or Pets Warehouse in LI. I know FT usually has large tanks in stock, but I don't know what size most of them are. I know PW also had a 200/300 cube which was nice.

Not worried about in stock, if he has to order it he will. Just looking for the best price cause im sure its going to be a lot.

For anything larger than 210 (besides the Marineland deep dimension) your looking at either acrylic or custom glass. For acrylic you can check out Tenecor, Sea Clear, Envision Acrylics. For glass there is Miracles, GlassCages, Deep Sea Aquatics (old oceanic employees) and Reef Savvy to name just a few . The freight is pretty costly though.

For my 225g I ended up going with Reef Savvy, Felix is a standup guy and worked with me every step of the way on design. They are a small family operation though so there is a wait.

Glass Cages for glass or acrylic...cheap delivery to White Plains NY...my 450g acrylic DT is from them, no problems.

Largest "factory built" tank that any fish store can get is the 300g Marineland Deep Dimension (72" x 36" x 27").

Anything larger requires a custom built tank and the price goes up.

Miracles in Glass is one of the most popular quality custom builders.

Glass cages is the cheapest custom builder but reviews are mixed.

There is also Coast to Coast right here in New Jersey. They make very nice tanks.

What dimensions exactly is your friend looking for? There are several things to consider when looking at larger tanks. If you can get a specific size it would help narrow the search.
