good one albano its totally the stores fault for hireing a bum that dont know corals stick to what u know they should have had that employee in the janitor department imo i go to lfs all the time and seem to always get deals everywhere except absolutly fish

Ok here's some more info. The other 2 corals were in a grow out tank and not for sale. The chalice we are talking about was for sale but the customer confused the new employee and got the coral for 40 less than marked for sale. The customer was a regular in the store.
A. $40 off on a $120 piece, would seem to be a 'good deal'...but certainly not worth losing sleep over.
B. The customer was a 'regular'... and apparently KNEW the 'grow out' tank items were NOT FOR SALE

IMO, (based on the info, presented) the problem was that the customer, knowingly took advantage of the 'new employee', by asking to buy corals, that he knew, were not for sale!

You don't abuse a good thing, This LFS is already selling great stuff for way below regular prices. I think the guy was more pissed about the fact it was a regualr and he took advantage of the guy and the fact he tried to sell it on the DVRC site for 900 as well and the head marine guy saw that as well. Not to mention the special yesterday was golden torches 25 bucks.

Funny, but when someone does something similar at Petco, which is very common with all the clueless people working there, it's something to crow about.

You are correct , but usually when we mention Petco it's about fish not expensive corals. Even then I'd consider that a rescue.

Nah.... My last 3 new cars I averaged $800 under sticker....:smokin:
Sticker is list price...Invoice is what is 'commonly' called cost, although it is NOT the true dealer cost...
Depending on the vehicle...$800 under sticker is usually not a great deal...
and that is without considering all the OTHER profit the dealer made from the F&I department, & on a trade-in vehicle.

The vendor should look at it dif; he sold something at a great deal. Now everyone knows where the good deals are at!...

Otherwise, its the stores fault for improper labeling, pricing, training.

I don't put it on the vendor as much as the customer. It would be different if it was just some random person going in there and not having a clue about the grow out tanks and also the fact the chalice was labled right. I know if I went into one of my LFS arounf me that I go to weekly and pulled that crap, I would think twice about showing my face in their again. And I agree at Petco it seems like a rescue mission even if you overpay.
