Very cool. I love those shrimp. I had one for a while. Im pretty sure you can sex them by lookin underneath at their butt. If it has a blue ring around it, its a female, if not male.( I think. It could be vice-versa. Im going to have to find out and get back to you.)

yours is a female. females are larger then males, have colored spots under their abdomen, and the front claws are larger, more fan like. i have two pairs in my 155g.


i noticed, if you are using these guys to keep down your asterina count... you need to knock the asterinas off the glass at night. this way it makes it easier for the shrimp to get to them.

I put mine up on my frag shelves every so often, they can get down, but they can't seem to climb up there to eat the stars. They have reduced the population considerably, I think they are now co-existing in a self sustaining way so both the stars and shrimp live. If it tips too much in favor of the shrimp I will feed these guys chocolate chip stars... I enjoy them too much for me to sell them!
