OK. As much as this SUCKS, it looks like I need to re-home my beautiful s. haddoni carpet. I'm not requiring anything. But if you have a few inexpensive frags (lps, etc are fine) that would be great.

HOWEVER. HERE'S THE DEAL....

The person I bought it from a few weeks ago (very cool dude by the way) had an ich outbreak Aprx 6 weeks prior. Because I'm a moron, I didnt QT the anemone. Both of my prized clowns died within four days of intro. QT is an absolute requirement for this anemone. For at least 8 weeks with no fish.

The anemone has been moving a bit in the past few days and is not super sticky right now. :(

Also, since this is FREE, here are my absolutes:

-You must know what you are doing with anemones. Experience required.
-QT or an established, fish-less tank. For at least 8 weeks. Your fish will get ich if you don't do this :)
-You may NOT sell this anemone. If you need to give it away for a few frags or free, that's OK. This carpet is much too cool to be flipped for profit.
-Your tank must be appropriately setup to care for this anemone. Please PM me with your specs.
-PICK UP only. No delivery, meeting, etc.
-I'm not posting pics. If you want the anemone PM me with above info and I will provide pics.
-Ideally, pickup will be tonight. I am available after 5:30pm. I live in Roslyn. Very close to exit 37 off the LIE.

anemones dont carry ick.

Actually anemones prevent ich and other external parasites from clowns.

What happened is that you bought an anemone from a tank with ich, either the anemone had water inside of it containing ich or water from the tank you took it from got in the tank.

Anemone are antimicrobial and antifungal and antibacterial.

Wow learn something new everyday. Didn't know anemones can carry ick

Any and everything you buy can transmit ich into your tank.

Rareclowns is right. I suspect it was in the water inside the anemone. Even though I tried to get most of the water off the anemone and did a 3-hour drip (and changed the water out constantly) it still brought ich along with it.

Its possible that it is ick from the water inside of the anemone, however carpets only allow certain species of clowns to host and will more then likely sting anyone that touches it.......did they show signs of ick? they may have just been the carpets attempted dinner

The pair of clowns I had were a. Polymnus. Haddoni is a natural host for them. The pair had also been around other Haddons in the past. They hosted my clown pair.

I don't think it was a sting, but that could have weakened the fish. These were rock solid. My female was Close to half an inch thick. The male was almost 3 inches long.

I'm honestly not 100% positive what killed my clowns, but they were super healthy before the anemone was introduced and they died four days later. They showed ich symptoms and some sting-like symptoms as well. The thing that threw me off a bit was the quick death of both clowns.

Regardless, My QT requirement stands. I'm going to PM everyone that replied.

Right now it's pending. Thanks.

If a fish is eating and eating a good diet its body, it will have the strength to fight off ich.

Most tangs get it when they are first introduced because they are stressed.
