My buddy Chris on MR was showing me how to use this Nikon 5500. Still learning but here are a few shots of the tank.

MIKE NY & Vio - Thank you for those SPS's fellas! They are coming along after some serious man hours to find the right spot for them ha. Also huge shout out to my boy Luis who gave me that flower anemone and yumma. Look out for this upgrade coming soon.

Happy Reefing Fellas!

Vio!! I lost it all man! ALL in a move! Even those awesome SPS you gave me which were really coming along. Here is a thread and pictures I just posted about the experience....

*****

Hey guys, so I thought I would create this thread for any beginners or experts that want to share their experience with moving a fully loaded coral reef tank. Well my experience this time around did not go so well! I under estimated how bad the weather was going to be. Don?t get me wrong, I planned for over 3 weeks but now I?m kicking myself in the butt for not just letting someone hold my corals while I made the damn move! WRONG move on my part. Here is a video I literally took 4 days before the move and then the aftermath pictures :/.

https://youtu.be/fzgH7hdVTOA

Facts:
I moved this past Friday from Astoria Queens to Stamford CT.
I moved two tanks. A 220 mixed reef and Display refugium. I did not move any furniture that day.
I broke down the tank Friday morning.
All fish survived with the exception of a few shrimp and anthias
Just about all my corals by Sunday were wiped out!

Game Plan:
I had oxygen, heater and flow for the fish
I had a heater for the corals during the 35 minute ride
I had 200 gallons of premade water waiting for me in Stamford

Issues:
One of the movers accidently knocked off the power supply in the truck for the corals so they were in pretty much freezing weather for over 3 hours because the movers I got from NY decided they didn?t want to make the CT trip so I had to scramble and find someone.
The powerhead I left in the coral buckets when I got to the apartment made the water super warm.

Anyway I can go on and on but this has been an absolutely dreadful weekend and I even considered leaving the hobby after seeing corals I have spent over 3 ? 5 years growing perish away within 48 hours. The smell of death in my apartment was also something else but my wife said no way are we leaving the hobby so we will do what we can to slowly rebuild again. After my buddies Vio and Mike NY hooked e up with some nice beginner SPS frags, I started working towards having a mixed reef and potentially a SPS dominated tank. Maybe now this is the opportunity for me to change the aquascape and flow so I can work towards that!

Please share your experiences so everyone can learn and not make some of the mistakes we have made!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey guys so here is a quick update of the progress! First of all, I wanted to thank everyone who offered up some frags I really do appreciate it and it's nice to have such an awesome community willing to help out when **** hits that fan for a local reefer. A couple of positives from this experience is that I was able to totally redo my aquascape and get a lot more room in the tank. It created way better areas for water flow, depth and I have a lot more room for CORALS ha ha!

More pics to come on progress in the up coming weeks. I will also post this on my tank thread because I want to keep the progress going there too.

Video update on the tank 3 weeks after the move!

Hi everyone, here is a quick update on the tank progress and where it stands now. It was literally three weeks from today where I moved and pretty much lost all of my corals. I wanted to give a special shout to a few awesome MR members that went out of their way to get me back up and running. Check out the video and please use this as a learning listen you don't want to experience hopefully some motivation for folks that are trying to get back in the hobby! Happy New Years everyone!

Just the kind words are more than enough bro. I appreciate it! I just want to let people know that you can always come back from disaster, I fortunate enough to have some awesome reefers that wanted to give me a bit of a heads start.

Thanks Vincent! For anyone interested to know how I got that large pile of rock work which will essentially NEVER fall over when doing work on the tank, I want to let you know that I used white fiber glass makers from home depot. They go for about $2 each and I only used 2 for the 220. Do not buy the orange kind because I they use some kind of extra protective material you do not want in your tank. My Blonde Naso is massive and one of the positives if this disaster was redoing my rock and making a lot more swimming room for him and creating space for corals to grow because that be came an issue during my last setup.

So all I did was drill a 1/4 inch whole (or find one) through the rock setup and because the fiber glass stick has some give it's great because you can create that overarching reef cliff. Here is a picture of it. Any questions, let me know!!
