Sticky, Sticky Goo

OK everyone, I know you've been waiting for it so here it is!

This baby is still breaking in, but you can see that it's starting to produce some sticky goo bubbles and sludge at the bottom of the cup. Just waiting for it to hum, baby!

did it take eight days because of the light bioload?

EDITED.
It's late and I'm tired. The above question should read as follows...

"How much of a factor do you think the light bioload played in the break in period of this skimmer?"

took 8 days to get it that color, produced more than that just got it dialed in - I emptied the cup 2 days ago and this system is not heavily stocked. maybe 10 fish in 180g of water.

8 days from installation - not 8 days to skimmate - if you read the thread before responding you'd see that.

Steven,
I'd say three factors contributed to the 8 day sludge production:

1 - new skimmer breakin period
2 - dial in (adjustment) period
3 - extremely light bioload (10 small fish in 180g)

Prior to the 8 day sludge factor, we did get skimmate, but much lighter in color (typical green tea skimmate).

Bottom line is this skimmer is performing exactly as it is supposed to do and better than our expectations. It is well made and priced just right to the consumer.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Is this group buy still on? I was interested in a BPS-3C or BPS-5C. Not sure which to go with. I have a 120 with a 40 breader as a sump and refug. Total capacity would 140-150 gallons.

Thanks for helping me decide.
