Not saying it's not true, but I still find it difficult to believe.

...as did I. Especially because we were paid up. Our sales rep I guess tried to get us reinstated...we would've even paid up front for everything, we didn't ask for terms or anything. The answer was that it was in the will.

Peace,

Being a consumer and not an insider, I have no idea what wholesale is on the cubes, but they RETAIL around the LA area for between a high of $109 to a low of $89. A year ago, they were selling between $165 and $129. I don't suppose there's much profit at $89 ?

nanocat.. - Those prices are right in line with retail prices here in Michigan and what can usually be found online so you have to figure that yes, its probably right in line with standard markups.

But sorry, but I don't have access to wholesale price lists and for the few stores that might be willing to impart that info to me I wouldn't break that trust and share it out with the world anyway. (In other words, don't hold your breath to find out from anyone really..)

I assume the newer deluxe models with twice the light and twice the fans will be more money. I'll know more tomorrow or Saturday.

Vitz.. - Didn't think they were marked up that high (they're drygoods after all) just that the prices were fairly consistent with everyone elses..

Chip - From what I've seen most aren't charging much more for the new models but instead are dropping markups on the old models to get rid of them. - There does seem to be a really good demand for them though so if you don't have much for competition nearby you can probably push it up a little bit.

We have zero competition in the area within a 75 minute radius, especially for new merchandise. Everyone wants affordable saltwater, so I'm going to do up a cheaper display with stick polyps, featherdusters, mushrooms, zoos, and a single neon blue damsel. Tack on the total price and see if people bite on the cubes. I think it'll work around here, based on my customers' bitching. :)

Peace,

Chip

If you don't want to order direct A&M Aquatics, a wholesaler in Lansing MI, carries them piecemeal. Kinda pricey, but you don't have to buy a pallet.
