Take off your soapbox goggles for a second, re-read everything, and you'll see that what people don't believe is that the LA wholesalers didn't know what they were doing. For this being a 1 and cyanide 100, you are spending a good bit of energy in the pulpit on this one

Wrong? Of course they were. Of course they knew.
Importers know this stuff 10X better then retailers ever could..obviously.
My point is the tokenism of it all when compared to the trades far greater institutional anomalies, thats all.

I kept telling Eric and Brad that the chances of them being illegal was quite high but no one listened and I refused to sell any. Now, less than 2 days since my rather unexpected departure from SDC, Eric comes out with this thread.

I had a nice conversation with Barnett this afternoon. He was not the importer- just a distributor like any other wholesaler. Just wanted to clarify that.

And FYI- a shipment of "Brazilian" Clarion's are coming into LAX tonight....I swear- industry people are some of the dumbest people on the face of the earth. Next to whoever the F&W agent is that lets these fish in.

Please allow me to shed some light on your "educated" guess. At no time whatsoever were the Clarions ever held at our company - period. Not for a week, not for a second. I have been informed by the USFWS inspector who came to chat with me about this issue that she had good information that we had held the fish - maybe that same excellent but erroneous information originated from you?

This is what I heard through the grapevine regarding the Clarions...

I saw them listed on numerous wholesale lists, including SDC and Golden Generations. From what I was told, the Clarions at SDC were not seized, but rather Eric abandoned them when the agents questioned him about them. Meaning SDC voluntarily gave them over to the authorities. This Clarion deal has been in the works for a while now, and I would find it very hard to believe that the owners/management at SDC, or any other wholesale outfit with Clarions, did not know they would be illegally entering the country. Especially in that quantity.

I doubt that we will see Eric post any additional information due to the criminal and civil actions that are underway. His lawyers most likely have told him to shut up.

I see US Fish and Wildlife twice a week face to face.
They are literally down the road and liable to visit anytime of the day.
They're nice guys and fair minded.
Calif. Fish and Game are on the same street.
They are welcome any time. They visit wholesalers often looking for snakeheads, baby turtles and leopard sharks.
I never knew a time when is wasn't easy for the authorities to find out whatever they wanted. It depends on them and if they work hard or not.
I don't mean hard like us dealers...but part-time, you know 40 hours a week.

Now the Mexican govt. is inquiring about.
Thats where the real issue is.
