Just gotta make sure that your supplier understands that you don't want to find any of them with their foot tore out.

 :P

Good luck with that.

I didn't say I was getting anything from this guy. I just wanted to know why on earth he was giving me this unusually high CITES and if anyone knew.

Big thanks to the PM's I got that have somewhat shed light on what may be going on.

big 4th of July smooches to everyone :)

I recieved many Private Messages. Nothing totally conclusive. It only concerns people who actually work IN the industry actively though.

No worry for you, the hobbyist.

I am sorry to follow up my question but I would like to bring to your attention that one of the purposes of this forum is to educate hobbyists about the industry. "It only concerns people who actually work in the industry" is hardly an acceptable answer.

You opened this thread asking about a possilbe closure of Viet Nam yet you refuse to share the answers to the question you posed. I am not asking you to identify those who sent you the PMs.

Just what is being hidden here? I suspect that the Vietnamese are falsely identifying corals that are under CITES protection. Am I correct?

Thank you

omg there isnt any conspiracy going on. I recieved my replies via email. If you think I'm giving you my username and password to read my inbox you are on another planet.

If you want answers maybe someone will PM you too. Don't be jealous. Could it be the fact that it's not really necessary for you to know? Possibly.

Don't even try your goofy games with me fella.

Fishy out ... I plan on having a great 4th - hope you guys all stay safe and out of harms way!!

*cheers*

you do not have any 'right' to know anything anyone doesn't want to tell you ;)

lose the paranoia, it's getting old

would you expect any other industry to divulge the trade's operations to you simply because you ask?

go ask debeers about their operation, pricing, supply, etc.....

really wayne,-you're bordering on badgering, and you'll get very little distance re: using that type of tack

you can always do your OWN research-but that's always seemed to be something you seem to have alot of difficulty with-not sure why/

some issues here are truly only relevant/ for only those in the industry-just because it's public, doesn't make you privy to all and sundry here, capiche ?

Sorry Vitz but many of you have made serious allegations in the clarion angels thread.

Most of you have been very critical of those that knew or ought to have known about the clarion matter.

If the Vietnam issue relates to the improper importation of CITES fish or coral you all have a responsibility to let the authorities know the information you have so that appropriate action can be taken against those involved.

What exactly is being covered up here? Is it the illegal importation or export of CITES fish or coral?

Thank you

Wayne,
I did that once.
The federal officer then illegally harrassed every shipment for months and tried to blackmail me into selling all my fish [ Mexican] to the wholesaler who partnered with him to cover smuggled wildlife with his clearance.
Inspector Noether was his name and the story of US Fish and Wildlife corruption made the cover of Pet Business magazine back in 86 or so.
That cured me of some of my knee-jerk idealism.
Steve
The answer to everything is not to impulsively run and squeal.

addressed to wayne:

dude-you should know better by now than to ask me anything-you know that i find you to be nothing other than an annoying attention hound (i'd use another term, but i've sworn off of prostitutiion references in defference to righty, et al)

no need to apologize-as far as i'm concerned-you are a hobbyist 'guesting in an industry forum-the moment you insist to anyone here you have a right to information, or even to be answered to-WHEN YOU IGNORE MORE QUESTIONS POSED TO YOU THAN ANYONE ON THIS FORUM DOES RE: YOU"RE QUESTIONS-i simply have to laugh my head off and ignore your request

what do you think i'm required to even acknowledge you, let alone answer you ?

all of the info given to you here by the various industry types is more out of courtesy on their part

and you repeatedly don't even read the answers given to you from the folks who (mistakenly, imo) think that answering you will do any good

you're like the paparrazzi that incessantly hounds and badgers an audience member instead of an actor

it's not because you have 'a right to know'

no go make some calls to vietnam and badger/rant and bother them, and insist to THEM you have a RIGHT to know

just curious-who gave you this right ?

Vitz no need for the personal attack. I have the right to ask questions just like the poster who started this thread; Nothing more and nothing less. We are all guests to this forum, Vitz.

Mary Middlebrooke who outed what she referred to as 'industry's dirty little secret, cyanide" posted as the first moderator as follows:
"Welcome to the newest forum at reefs.org! Threads concerning industry related issues pop up in the main forum on a fairly regular basis.
I attribute this to the fact that more hobbyists are aware of where their
animals are coming from and want to insure that they are not contributing to the detriment of the world's reefs. Reefs.org took note of that concern and figures it warrants its own forum.""""

The questions I posed are fair questions because if it it true that some Vietnam suppliers are falsifying species which are on the CITIES list, it is indeed a detriment to the world's reefs.

So if you too are concerned as I am, if[/b kindly take the time to answer my questions.
Thank you
Wayne

Naesco, Len told me to not hit send on what I was going to say.
For those of you that know me personally, yes it was one of those snotty wordy Adrienne style answers complete with mommy lecture.

Since I adore Len and do not wish to be forced to buy him a bucket of Advil I am only going to say these two things to you Naesco:

Go try to answer your questions before you start asking them.

Never post at me in any thread because you simply just don't know. If you want to know, try to work in the industry.

It's late, I'm intolerant. Everyone seems to be in this thread. I got the answers I was looking for though. Thanks folks who participated with useful information and not conspiracy soaked emptiness.

Good Night.

wow!!!!!!!!I sure wish that were true!!!
It is precisely because it is not true that has disillusioned her and other reformers so much.
Caring hobbyists do exist...
A fraction of the caring ones even care enough to put their money where their mouth is....
Why one was seen in Cleveland last week.

When someone has to stop and explain the details of how and why to you the flow of the conversation is lost.

Naesco you don't have to butt your nose into every thread just so people can see your name. Is it attention you need? I dont know. I really think that if we just ignore you you'll learn to find information on your own like a big boy, all grown up like and such.

I was hoping this thread would yield more information and insight but as usual it's been hijacked by Naesco the conspiratorist and his needyness to be in the middle of it all.

I would appreciate if a mod would kindly lock this thread.

Happy Independence day to my friends.

Fishchick I don't think your comments are appropriate or fair at all.

You posted a question in this thread.
You got the answers. Nobody else did.
I merely asked for the answer and to date you refuse to share same with the rest of us here.
What exactly is being hidden form the rest of us?
