Vietnam closing?

Peeking out from under my little chunk of live rock here. (Life makes me a very busy person of late).

I may not have been paying attention when this memo went out but uh, is Vietnam closing exports? I was told this by one of my overseas suppliers and I thought perhaps he was fulla bull.

Can someone send me a clue card please? Nobody else I usually ask knows a thing.

Any news on Viet Nam today?
Would it be a US Fish and Wildlife embargo on them pending their being more responsive to paperwork mandates or what?
Or a locally generated shutdown...which is hard to believe.

I'm not going to order from that supplier. I have other options a plenty. I was just curious. I'm not much of a fan of the stuff from VT anyway.

I recieved many Private Messages. Nothing totally conclusive. It only concerns people who actually work IN the industry actively though.

i have experience with only two things vietnamese re: this industry:

discus and clams



they both sucked, and i'll never purchase anything from vietnam again, even as a hobbyist, as a matter of principle


low quality, bad condition, genetically defective/inferior crapola, if'n ya ask me

I have no experience with Discus from Vietnam, I visit one farm and saw some really nice discus, but then heard they have no clue about packing and that a shipment to Spain ended up with very high DOA.

I dont think you have more options for Croceas at the moment.

Before I know they couldnt collect properly, but since then some of then can collect and pack properly.
I bet you still have bad clams coming from some suppliers down there, but you can get some seriously high quality and healthy clams from Vietnam now.
