Par38 bulb from HD

Are those bulbs the same as the ones vendors sell here?
If not what's the difference?
Would they still work on a shallow tank (12,15,18" Tall )?

The temp on those are lower like 6500k very yellow ,are they good for coral?? U got me the higher the color in k the more blue tint it has. 14k 20k are nice

I believe the highest color temperature of LED I see from HD is 5000K not 6,700K
HD so far sells mainly home lights so they would not be so high in color temperature unless they started to sell LEDs to the gardening people.


6,700K is good for vegetation
12,000K is good for coral and most marco
Reef type LEDs mixed of 12,000K and Blue are very good with coral and pleasing to our eyes.

Can you share where you found that light. Ive been looking for a local place for a LED in this K range that is not specially marketed to aquarium use, and therefore twice as expensive.

I been trying to build a shallow tank no higher than 16 in

I saw those and wonder if I can use them
Can they give me a good PAR for my corals ?
I know they are going to come out yellow but I already have a blue LED strip that can add that nice blue

I'm using two 5100k and one 3000k par38 18w over my new mangrove fuge. Only a month but they look good so far. It's a 50g tub with 60 12" mangrove seedlings in it. Many are still acclimating, the first ones in are looking good and showing a little growth.

6500K will grow corals, more likely very fast. But the colors would be unpleasing to the eye of the reefer.

They are indeed the perfect bulbs for a refugium

I just built a 20 gal L as a Refugium next to the main tank
I thought maybe I can put a frag rack there with one or two of those bulbs

I have one of those in my fuge. Has been working great so far. Hope that helps.
