Whats up with my ducans???

OK so I have had this piece for about 2 months and it was doing great and now in the last 2 days 4 of the 7 heads don't open all the way. My parameters are as follows: Cal 420
Alk 9 Dkh
Mag 1300-1350
Nitrate,ammonia and Nitrite are undetectable, not sure what my phosphates are but I'm certain they aren't perfect but I'm working on it.
For the record all my other pieces are doing great. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Only one hour and ur already bumping? Must be an emergency. .

My Duncan heads were closed for 3 days recently while a new head was budding off the side of one. Then they all opened. Maybe yours is budding too? Another possibility is temperature issues with this heat. Or perhaps a physical injury?

They are also pretty susceptable to brown jelly disease. Check for the jelly and dip with lugols if you find any.

call me impatient lol. Mine do have a few buds starting to show, I just wasn't sure if that could cause a few of the heads not to open fully. Thanks for the help Frosty

Haven't seen any jelly at all but I will keep my eyes open for it. Thanks!

Like Frosty said,could be temps or injury or even just budding.Check your PO4 but Duncans are pretty tough so you never know.Sometimes corals react to carbon and some GFO's.

There getting plenty of light and I try to feed them twice a week,flow has been the same since day one and I haven't changed anything in the tank. I'm thinking its because new heads are forming.

i was just about to post the same question...my 5 head piece just budded up about 12 new heads nd they rnt opening up. water tests perfect aswell.guess its the budding.

Yep, opened up fully 2 days later and I have a few new heads forming.
