its really almost instant... as long as ALL of the salt is disolved and stirred up really well, you shouldnt have any problems!! If this is your initial fill and you put to much salt in, just take some water out and replace it with new unsalted water untill the specific gravity drops to where...
as long as your temperature if around 80 degrees and the salt in the water is fully dissolved, you should be able to get the specific gravity after about 20 minutes or so, just stir it up really well and make sure the water is the same temperature you plan on keeping in your tank!
I dont believe the 55 watt will be enough for most corals... that would be giving you less then 2 watts a gallon... The kit does come with a bulb or at least it did for me when i bought the 32 watt version but i was only using it over a 12 gallon nano reef... Send a email to the people at...
If the brown algae is just starting to prosper then your tank probably didnt finish cycling yet?!?! Are you running a skimmer on that tank??? Thats probably the single best non chemical thing you can get to help you out... :)
My advice to you would be to buy the actual retrofit kit... I bought one for my eclipse 12 hood the 32 watt retrofit kit and it came with instructions and everything and it went very smooth... Here is a link to the 55 watt kit.

Hey guys, I am probably going to pick up a fish this weekend for my tank and I was wondering what the best way to feed it would be?? my tank is 60" long and I just finished the diatom / hair algae blooms so I dont want to over feed and let the algae come back with avengance... any tips for...
oh yeah the tank dimensions are 60" long x 12" tall x 16" deep... Its roughy 40 gallons or so... It was custom made for a reptile enclosure, but my friend didnt use it anymore so he sold it to me for like 25$ and i thought what the heck, it could probably make a pretty cool reef tank!! :) Its...
