i just added a 250w 6500k Ice Cap MH to my 45 gal. 36"L x 24"H x 12"D i needed to build a new hood to move the MH about 8" above the water, the original hood had it about 2-3" and i almost melted the center brace! live and learn... i do need to add a fan to the hood because the temp swings...

i have a 45H gal with a single 250w 6500K and 2 36" VHO URI actinics...the coloring is ok, it's a little yellow but maybe i need to get used to it...i just upgraded from all VHO to the MH & VHO combination. there is a slight shadow in the center of the tank, but it's not really that noticeable...

i have an ICE CAP 430 and an ICE CAP MH 250w about 20 feet from my home theater equip with no problems...of course the electronics are all on a different circuit.

i feed my tangs: mysis shrimp, frozen brine, formula #1, formula #2 and the algae sheets. they will eat just about anything and i think the variety helps them look their best!

i added a single 250w metal halide bulb to my hood and i'm a little concerned that the VHO actinic bulbs may be too close to the metal halide. they are about 2-3" from the metal halide bulb. should i be concerned about the heat affecting the vhos?

got a pic? sounds like an advance ballast which are found at home depot and the like. if you can post a pic i'm sure someone here will be able to give you better information.

nice pics! sounds like i can't go wrong with the skimmer i've been considering. it's also great to hear all the positive feedback...we need more people like Andy involved with the message board.

this is good news! i have been considering getting Andy to make up a skimmer for my tank setup. the skimmer i'm considering is the dual injector large model...andy says it's rated for about 550 gallons. i plan on having a 125, 220, 45, and a 150 sump all plumbed together. i may be cutting it...
