  1. 46 Gallon Bow Front with Stand

Near Long Beach, Long Island. 46 Gallon (Glass) Bow Front in great condition. Black Stand, also in great condition. Glass top as well. Back is painted a sea blue so no messy taped up backdrops. Recently upgraded to a larger tank so I'm looking to move this one. Would like $250 for everything...
  2. MH Bulb Story and Qs

I took a chance with some cheap E-bay bulbs to see how things played out. 2 20K 150w double-ended bulbs. One didn't work, had to get replacmenet in mail. Just received new bulb. At first the new bulb wouldn't turn on, I left the ballast on and bulb turned on after an hour. WTH? It burns a...
  3. MH Bulb Q

This may seem like a dumb Q but: Does it matter what side of a double-ended MH faces up or down? In other words...does the glass nub that sticks out on the bulb face the tank surface (down) or face up? Thanks
  4. Orange Cap Monti

I had it for years, it's huge, and my Perc Clown pair is hosting it between its layers. It recently started bleaching not too long after my clowns began laying eggs on it. Could they be the cause or is it more likely due to a dip in Ph I corrected. Everything else is fine...all parameters...
  5. Feeding Your Reef at Night

So what do you feed your corals?
  6. Feeding Your Reef at Night

Just curious to see what some of you do, if anything? Do you wait for the lights to be off completely w/ just moon lights on? And if so, how long do you wait after the lights are out? Or do you feed during dusk with only actinics on? And of course, what do you feed your night critters? Thanks
  7. Sixline Wrasse and Mandarin?

I've had both and personally, I think the 6-line will eat too much. I recently had one die of old age after 6 years and it was the biggest pig of a reef fish I've ever had. It was always the first one up in the morning and last one to bed. All it ever did was graze my live rock for critters...
  8. which fish for last fish purchase

Powder Blue. I happen to love Blonde Naso's if you can find one, but Naso's have some nasty spikes on their tail. So I say play it safe with the Powder Blue.
  9. Blue Coral Banded Shrimp (Steponus tenuirostris)

Thanks. My Fire shrimp is small right now so maybe it could work. I've just heard about how aggressive coral banded shrimp could be so I'm thinking if I get the Blue which stays very small, maybe it could work. Thanks
  10. Blue Coral Banded Shrimp (Steponus tenuirostris)

Anyone have experience with these guys? I know they stay small so I'm wondering if it would get along with a fire shrimp in a 40g with plenty of live rock. Thanks
  11. lfs store in long island

If you're up for a trip into Nassau County, Total Aquariums is a great store. The new store manager is even a member on this site and loves what he does. The owner (Martin) used to work at Ed's Aquarium on Sunrise Highway if anyone remembers that store. I loved it as a kid. Total Aquariums...
  12. Endive Hydnophora

Anyone have experience with this coral and tissue degeneration? I used to have one and got rid of it, it was too aggressive. However, I recently saved one from a friend to try and recoup it. Anyone know how to save it? Should I cut the bare skeleton away from the rest? It's not possible...
  13. Free Pulsing Xenia (light purple)

They are very cool but like already said, grow like weeds. I had them in my tank and finally decided it was enough and got rid of them all. They were growing everywhere and over everything. Even my most aggressive corals had no effect keeping them in check. I gave some to my LFS, went back a...
  14. Halimeda Experience

I'm thinking about putting it in a 40g breeder that has some fairly high Cal. demands w/ no Cal. reactor. I have a plating orange cap monti that's growing like crazy. Maybe it's not such a good idea and I should stick with more basic caulerpa.
