1. Bellus angel M/F compatibility

She is still eating at least. The chasing seemed a little less today but yesterday I even saw her jump out of the water to escape his chasing. There doesn't appear to be any actual damage inflicted but the jumping thing really put me on alert.
2. Bellus angel M/F compatibility

I have a pair of bellus angels (Genicanthus bellus). I myself have had them around 2 years, but I initially got them from another hobbyist who was shutting his tank down. So they are a couple years old at this point. I am curious, or rather, starting to have doubts, about the long-term...
3. New orchid blooming

Probably pointing out the obvious here, but it's an angraecoid (Angraecum sp. or close relative, e.g., Aerangis sp. maybe). Actually, given the small size I would guess Aerangis of some sort. One of my favourite groups of orchids. The Darwin orchid (Angraecum sesquipidale) has just the...
4. Terraruim/Vivarium Sites

Hi Dan, From this site (about halfway down the page), I came across this other site: http://www2a.biglobe.ne.jp/~wild-sky/vi ... an0312.htm Just a general question for you (or anyone who might know) ... I noticed that in this vivarium, there's at least one, or possibly two ultrasonic...
5. Any planted freshwater tank gurus here?

What sort of things are you looking for, when you're measuring hardness if you're dosing CO2?
6. Carpet Anemone from MarineDepotLive

Stichodactyla haddoni isn't always necessarily impossible to keep, but the more fantastically coloured ones might be. In the last year or two I have seen so many blue saddle carpets popping up all over the place whereas before it was unheard of. Where did this sudden cache of blue carpets get...
7. Any experience using ESV Spray-Dried Marine Phytoplankton?

I occasionally feed some blended in the hopes that maybe my SPS use it as some kind of zooplankton substitute. It's very subjective whether I really see any results, though. If it's not blended then the particle size is too large for anything to make effective use of it. It's not always...
8. Lifegard Quiet One feedback wanted

Thanks for all the feedback. If it wasn't for the cracked housings in that thread .... anyways I think for now I'll go with a Mak4. Disappointed I won't be getting that quiet of a pump but I suppose that with a bullet skimmer and a LG4 with fan on the other tank right next to this one ...
9. Lifegard Quiet One feedback wanted

Having a hard time finding solid feedback on this pump. It seems inexpensive, compared to other pumps with similar capacities. Are there any longevity or reliability issues with this pump? Please advise, thanks.
10. My Anemones Did Not Recover From The Food Poisoning

Food poisoning?? :? I too want to hear more details, what was wrong with the food and at what point did you suspect it was the food??
11. Tide Generating Tank -- Anyone tried this?!?

I imagine that there are plenty of critters (e.g., some species of snails and whatnot) that are intertidal and that would benefit from such a setup, but unless one had a particular desire to keep an intertidal zone biome, I'm not sure if there would be any huge benefits to non-intertidal...
12. Can labelling be made easier for the LFS

Shouldn't be ALLOWED to even have them...at least IME. In short, regulate the hobby.....
13. An informal poll : length of photoperiod.

20g ... 1x175W halide 10 hours 50g ... 2x175W halide 12 hours 75g ... (planned ... will replace 50g eventually) 2x250W halide 6-8 hours (undecided), 2x110W VHO 12 hours
14. Scooters mating???

quote:
Originally posted by HARRISON: Delphinus, Thanks for the response. I take you are convinced they were mating then? Do you have any information about this. I have been unable to read up on this...
15. Scooters mating???

Ooops, here I go, jumping in late like this again. sorry ... Scooters do spawn in captivity. It is a very mesmerizing thing to watch they are very elegant and graceful. I've had this happen in my tanks. It would be neat to try and video the event (yeah we're all dirty minds here.. HEY it's...
