  1. Hey N. J.

Great to see all these stores being mentioned. Hope to check them out when I've got some time. I'm sure I'll get nice and lost! I look foward to seeing them. Anyone been to Living Color yet? As for trop- hysterical that you came upon that mantis too! I only wish I could have taken him, but...
  2. Aloha S.I.

Hey Tony.....sorry for the tardy response, I don't get to these forums too much. Yeah, SI has a complete lack of good LFS's. I agree, Reef Fantasy tops them all on the island, even so....I'd like a plethora of GOOD LFS's. I used to live in great kills. Moved to NJ. No stores around here...
  3. First Time Plumber

Yeah, looks like you'll probably have to hyave a short piece of pipe and then slip the cap on. Plumbing looks great.....if you think yours is messy.....!!!!! Beautiful dog, a samoyed? My family has a samoyed, just turned 1.
  4. First Time Plumber

You're right...the caps, as far as I know and have done on my tanks, will only slip onto the appropriate sized pvc pipe.
  5. Vinyl Tube and PVC question

savager....I'm right near east brunswick and lowes & home depot have a great assorment of hose barbs and the likes. You should be golden, finding them there. I have some pics of the vinyl set up with the hose barbs here.... http://isleaquatica.com/gallery/v/tanks/custom/equip/DSC04021.JPG.html
  6. First Time Plumber

I'm very new to plumbing tanks myself, though I think where the bulkhead and gasket are concerned, that more often than not, if they have a slight drip or the likes, they over OVER tightened. Not 100% sure, but, maybe try loosening it a bit? :::::shrug::::: Congrats on having it done. Can I...
  7. The Pump Thread...

90deg. elbows. Though they are needed for certain applications, you want to try to limit the amount in which you employ them and work around them making different, less abrupt turns and the likes. Pvs, thanks for your insight, much appreciated again. My new custom tank is actually a custom...
  8. How does one age their new saltwater?

I hear you, I agree. Thus, I think it's a great thread for less seasoned keepers to stumble upon, really great topic. Undoubtedly.....once I got sick of that, I started purchasing Catalina Real Ocean Water and one a tank or two I have also used the Nutri Sea Water from Natures Ocean. I''ve...
  9. The Pump Thread...

Hey PV, glad I cleared that up for you. Can't wait to run the little beast of a pump! as for my 2 drains on my overflow, they are both 1.5".
  10. Microstar Invasion

Can you snap a sort of image/s of `em? There are many species of astrina stars, which I myself would remove pronto, though there are also micro species of brittles which are perfectly fine and will not present any harm to any of your livestock.
  11. Ok so I'm finally gonna upgrade my skimmer!

I just moved from SI.....was cool to hear all here had a cool time. Belated bday celebration of some sorts, so I've read Aqua C is a great group of folks. If you're on the upgrade prowl, I would undoubtedly, wallet allowing, go with a recirculating euro reef and if not a recirculating...
  12. Ranco Controller

hey deepwater, think I can check yours out, pics of it hooked up? Don't mean to badger, but would be interested in seeing. Mahalo!
  13. Red Mangrove Keepers . . . .

    Yes.
  14. Has anybody had any experience with this website?

I'd prefer some other etailers. Many have competetive pricing....though if there was an etailer that was somewhat close to you, for shipping purposes, you could save quite a bit, which would be nice. Are you looking for anything in particular?
  15. How does one age their new saltwater?

I've always made sure that when making up replacement saltwater, to heavily aerate and attain proper temp. for a minimum of 48 hours. I too employ a strong powerhead, though I've recently upgraded to a larger brute can for my newer system which will require a larger more suffecient pump to get...
