  1. YELLOW TANG

My yellow tang has a fairly broad and faint white line along his back. When the lights go off, after about 10 - 20 minutes, the white line gets brighter and the brown blotch begins to appear. I call it his 'pajamas'. Ha! Actually, I think this is their camouflage, so that they may blend...
  2. Getting ceramic tile in kitchen....

and I've heard it kicks up a lot of dust. My fishtank is in the connecting family room. What can I do to protect the tank from this dust? I thought about covering it with a sheet for a couple of days but, I have to be careful about not letting the tank get too hot here in Texas. Your...
  3. For you Carpenters and DIY's out there...

I apologize for the 'oddity' of this question in advance. I don't know any carpenters to ask. I have a wooden canopy over my aquarium this is only about 1/4" shy of being able to fit the desired light I have purchased. The canopy is 3/4" thick and all I need to do is take 1/4 or 1/8th off...
  4. cleaner wrass

His mouth is a tiny bit under his nose. Him and my Yellow Tang are big buddies for almost 2 years now. The clowns could 'take or leave' him, most of the time and I think he scares my firefish goby, but, then most ever thing else does too. I had a coral beauty that seemed to enjoy his...
  5. cleaner wrass

I guess I have been extremely lucky with my Cleaner Wrasse. He/She is such a delight. Eats ANYTHING that I put in the tank that is chopped up small enough for his little mouth. Nori, flake food, brine, pureed frozen squid/fish, etc... He is usually the FIRST one to the food. He will even...

  7. Pure Sunlight over your tank

Thanks to all for your input. I thought there had to be somethings I wasn't considering. And, my non-reef spouse thanks you too for not poking a hole in our ceiling. :)
  8. Pure Sunlight over your tank

That's amazing! Why would our corals require more than nature ?
  9. Pure Sunlight over your tank

Tell me I'm crazy...... Due to minor hail damage we are having our roof replaced, less the deductible. I was thinking about one of those Solatubes over the fish tank. You might have seen them in the Parade Magazine in the Sunday paper. 14" across, like a small skylight but, with reflectors...
  10. RO/DI Question

I put my filter in upside down once and that happened to me. Check that too.
  11. GE Sunshine bulbs come in 36" length?

That was for one bulb. Jan
  12. GE Sunshine bulbs come in 36" length?

I just called GE 1-800-435-4448. The guy said 36" is made but not carried by many stores because it is considered an unusual length. It's number is: F30T12C50 He suggested, to check and see if they will special order it for you or go to a Electrical Supply store such as Grainger. I called...
  13. GE Sunshine bulbs come in 36" length?

I need to replace my NO blubs and have been reading about the GE Sunshine (very similar in spectrum and much cheaper) and would like to give it a try. I have found the 48" and 24" at Wal-Mart and Home Depot but cannot find a 36"? Does anyone know if they even make a 36"?
  14. smokin grape caulerpa - Quick question

Thank you. I don't have much and the tank is already clearer than before. Does it die after it goes sexual?
  15. smokin grape caulerpa - Quick question

I noticed my tank was a little cloudy this morning and upon looking closer I noticed that my grape caulerpa is much lighter in color and sending up smoke plums. I don't have much in my tank. Is this something I should take care of before leaving for work?
