  1. Established yellow coris wrasse okay with new 6-line wrasse?

From my experience my Yellow Coris wrasse does not fight with my leopard wrasse. Not to say that this will be the case in your tank but I have seen wrasse's together in many tanks with no fighting
  2. More newbie questions..

Slugz here are the most common methods of filtration... I got all of this information from http://www.masla.com A freind that builds tanks recommended the masla site awhile back and I pass it along whenever I can. I hope it helps The Standard method. Water exits the tank via an overflow system...
  3. anyone else like "shy" fish?...

I agree with SteveP Firefish or a Wrasse The Purple firefish are especially shy
  4. Getting another fish

Gold neon gobies wont make much of an impact and are pretty active little guys, Nice to look at and hang out on the glass or rock or on the sides of the other fish or just about anywhere.
  5. Kenyan Tree Propogation question

So two votes for just cutting with a knife Man I cant bring myself to cutting this. I like the rubber band Idea because if the coral starts reacting terribly I can correct it... But if this is the only way then I guess I'll have to cut it.
  6. odd ball

Ooops Im sorry I forgot who I was talking to So Mr. T is re-arranging your environment huh Maroons can be landscapers allright, I think eventually he will not even let you put your hand in the tank without a fight... when he goes senile that is. I would try and re-arrange the whole tank it...
  7. odd ball

Sounds like you have one of those bigger clowns like a saddleback Anyway I have seen them do this often they usually like a certain area in the tank and will protect it from any intruder... even coral and rock intruders The sand thing leads me to believe it is underfed and stirring up the sand...
  8. Kenyan Tree Propogation question

OK I have to ask here because the Propogation forum is gone. Has anyone had luck with these. According to the propogation book by Calfo they should propogate naturally by fission budding and branch dropping and goes on to say that Fragmentation of Neptheids is through constrictive procedures...
  9. All my tanks plumbed together, should I get a UV sterilizer?

I assume you have at least one Quarantine tank that you will be keeping separate for you new fish to live in for a couple of months so you dont accidently infect your inhabitants. I run UV on my tanks but have not added anything to my tank for five months or so so I could probably turn it off...
  10. Shrimp ID please! Good Guy Or Bad?

I wonder what it is you are pulling out with your turkey baster, are you sure they are not amphipods check out the hitchhiker FAQ here at reefs.org you might find the critters you are pulling out are ok to keep http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq
  11. I have a shrimp living in my clam??!!

That is peculiar I have never heard of a shrimp living in a live clam, I would think the clam would try and mac on the shrimp by now Not sure if its healthy, But I would not mess with it... Best to let nature take its course BTW. Whats with the speakers??
  12. Red light

Now I just read this again about the red light by r6_rider who is using a red light to see at night. I have noticed this time and time again on this board. Yet I have tried a flashlight ( navy style with red lens in fron ) and the nightlife scatter just as quickly for the red light as they did...
  13. Laser Cosmetic for fish!

These are not "NEW" and the warning label actually says Danger Laser light and so on just like one of those laser pointers. It cant be improving the color of the fish. Unless they mean it looks neat when a fish passes through the beam of light I guess if you want a novel night light it...
  14. Thermometers

That actually sounds like a good idea. But I think I will mount the head unit as far away from the tank as possible to keep corrosion down to a minimum
  15. Leopard Shark.

Not trying to call you out here or anything I just wanted to offer my experience in finding these sharks in warmer waters in the wild. We used to fish for halibut and accidently catch these all the time in a slackwater bay in California that would have really high temps. We always thought they...
