  1. Sailfin and Yellow tang co exist ?

I had a Red Sea Sailfin, Kole Tang, and a Yellow Tank in my 210gal for several years. The Sailfin was added last and it chased the yellow a little for the first few weeks, but never harmed it, just let it know who was the boss. When I moved down to GA and setup my new 500gal reef in the new...
  2. quiet skimmer

Wow, I had a Remora Pro on my 55gal after using a CPR Backpak and Prism. It was the quietest of all of them... You might want to try the timer idea. I never had one on there, but it's worth a try. Also, how long have you had the skimmer. Maybe I just got used to it, but I swear it got...
  3. SEIO powerhead?

I've been running 2 of them for about 3 months now and am very happy with them. I know they have thermal protection, but I am unsure about UL listed. I also remember reading that they are oil free as well. Can't complain at all. The pair work nicely in my 8ft tank as supplemental circulation.
  4. Kalk reactor ? Clean it?

I clean mine about once every 4 to 6 months. Just dump the large chucks of debris out and rinse it well before refilling it.
  5. Power cord for Icecap ballast

Make sure you get a grounded 3 prong cord. Lowes and Home Depot carry them in the aisle with extension cords. All you need is a replacement plug.
  6. getting close to my new skimmer

Not sure how big you tank is, but Aqua C has always performed great for me. No regrets at all and VERY quiet. I had a Remora Pro on my old 55gal and I now have an EV240 on my 210gal. Runs flawless and it's very simple and maintenance free.
  7. Supplements

Just B-Ionic, a little iron to keep the macros happy, and monthly water changes. Unless I can test for something, I don't try and add any additives.
  8. YOUR opinions on chromis

I have 4 of them in my 90gal tank and 8 in my 210gal tank. Nice friendly fish that are always out in the open. They down even bother the clown gobies. One word of caution, maybe I just have bad luck, but I usually have a 50% mortailty rate for these fish in the first 30days. Once they make...
  9. A question about Pure Aragonite.

I ordered 200+ lbs from them when I setup my 220gal. No problems at all. Shipment was FAST and the price was good. It's real fine and my water was cloudy for a few days, but then cleared up with no problems.
  10. Refugium Pics

Here's an older picture of ecosystem setup sump on my 90gal tank.
  11. Killing bubble algae

I just use my fingers to carefully pluck them from the rocks without rupturing them. On a side not though, I have ruptured a few and the "spores" had no effect of creating new ones. Of course, even worse case, I only rupture one, and not several of them.
  12. cord/power mgmt system

I use velcro wire straps (you can get them at Best Buy and Radio Shack) to make a bundle of the wires as it runs along through the cabinet. I also make sure the plugs of each component have a clearly legible waterproof label to prevent confusion.
  13. do chromis acclimate bad or somethin?

Wow, I never thought about that way, but I am sure that is completely correct. It's all about busines and making a profit to stay in business. Thanks for the insight and the absolutely great interpretation Steve.
  14. New Rios

They are very different then the old ones. The impeller is a directional design. There is a little tab that prevents it from running in the opposite direction. I don't they're good for repeated start/stops, but for general use, they seem to work good. I've had one in my 90gal now for almost...
  15. pre-fab sump vs glass tank

The baffles work to remove any bubble you have from your skimmer and sometimes to slow flow down and make suspended debris fall to the bottom. Again, all the purposes depend on the specific design of the sump. I would stick with the aquarium, and maybe silicon in a simple over/under/over...
