For ideas on plumbing you can take a look at my website for pictures of my setup. I used a simple hole saw to cut my acrylic, but since yours will be thicker then my sumps acrylic you may have to take a different approach.

Oh, you can get wall plugs from Radio shack. Then just use regular timers. In the past I have also bought cheap 3' extension cords and cut one side off and spliced the wires together. Those digital timers are expensive!

I would go with 3 400's but electricity in CA is too expensive. If the VHO's aren't needed that would be cool. I'll have to play with the setup and see how it looks.

I actually haven't purchased anything yet, but I will be getting this setup: 2x 250w HQI ballast and 20k Radiums 1x 400w HQI ballast and 20k Radium 2x 6ft VHO actinic (or if too blue I will use 50/50's to average out “blueness”) 1x Huge electric bill C/O Mr. Davis. All with Spider reflectors...

In the AM my pH is about 8.3, and it's been about 2 months since I calibrated my meter. I'm going to do a test run and blow a lot of fresh air into my sump and see if my pH goes down. I think I may have an aeration problem.

My pH has been up at 8.5-8.6 for the last few days. I have not changed anything. My normal pH was about 8.2-8.4 I have shut of my Kalk top-off for 2 days and my pH still goes up to 8.5. So I don’t think I have dosing too much Kalk. What other factors could be raising pH?
