What about running water from the tank through the media then into the sump (gravity feed)? This doesn't require a pump and will not pulverize the media. You could T off a line and ball valve it to control flow.

I use one two and really like it. I use a small, old powerhead that I had. You don't need a lot of flow. Just enough to flow past the media without tumbling it. Tumbling the media leads to it breaking down.

Thats what I have wondered. I usually just fill the container back up with RO and stir up the undesolved and top off again. If it is impurities, It does not seem like you would want to stir it up or add it at all.

Here is a formula you can use. Lets say you are going to do a 25% water change and you want your salinity to be 1.026 from your 1.021. (1.026 - (1.021x.75))/.25= Salinity of make up water or 1.041 in this case.

What if you increased the diameter at the outlet and affixed a propeller to that opening? The flow would spin the propeller and diffuse the pattern much like the power heads that use the propeller as the mechanism to create the flow. how about that?

Thanks, Mike. I think mine is a standard bubble. I do not think (I'm at work now) it has the protrusions coming off the bubbles. I'll take a look tonight. One thing most of the literature I found mentioned was feeding. I do not target feed mine very often. Maybe I will try that for a while.
