good,now that the important q's are answered, i proclaim that the skimmer is still breaking in.

this sounds famliar, when i changed my sand bed my tank heated up 6+ degrees. i cleaned out all my pumps, seems like sand gets in the rotor parts and causes extra friction.

i am thinking about the lightrail too i was going to use a timer to control the motor to maybe stretch the travel time to 4 hrs. so i can use (2) 400 watt 20K lamps in one pendant.

i do. it works good enough for me so i don't really have dose anything anymore. what more can u ask?

I just did this same project a little while ago and imo lay new sand first then live sand on top. get pantyhose & fill your old substrate in it and lay that on your sand bed,maybe move it to another location every few days.go ahead and get a critter kit from http://www.ipsf.com/ or...

i have a gen x pump. this works good w/a modified cap from jason of aqu c, i took the gate valve off i used a y conn. from marine depot. the cap cost 30.00 inc.shipping i run the pump flat out. you can do it stock but you will need a ball valve at the pump output and leave the gate valve wide...

use the mag 12 it'll be fine
