krullulon, Thanks for the heads up! The species index is being made with noobs in mind. I would like to create a visually appealing database. I want it to be easy to navigate through using pictures to help people find the information they need I hope a few noobs can find the index before...
  2. Reef Species dateebase

Hi all. I've started a new site devoted to showcasing the different species of reef fish and corals. I would also like to promote the sale of frags to take some pressure off our reefs Please post pics here that you don't mind me using. I will add most of them to the database for all to enjoy...
  3. light on a 75 gal.

I'm open top. I run 20k Radiums and use 2 actinic T5 tubes for morning/evening viewing (on a timer). I would show you my tank but my camera cannot take shots under 20k MH :?:
  4. light on a 75 gal.

I've got 2 x 250w MH over my 75g. I've read that you can satisfy the light requirements for anything with this as a minimum.
  5. Favorite tank size!

I'am stuck with a 75g for now, my next tank will definatley be 300g minimum.

  7. Is exporting small pieces of live rock to the UK legal?

It's funny, I'am a Ricordea fanatic and I haven't even got a polyp LOL! I guess eveyones got a thing for something in reef husbandry. Mines True Florida Ricordea and Acros (not a good mix!). I'll keep the ricordea (eventually) in my refugium and devote the main tank to acros. That way the...

Cool, Things like this happen! I used to have a strange pair too! A snowflake moray and a regal tang. They shared a cave and would bite each other occasionaly. They spend the rest of the time touching side by side and looking for food! If only I have a camera then!
  10. Intel "Play" Microscope?

Cool! Whats the creature in the top pic?
  11. Is exporting small pieces of live rock to the UK legal?

Algae? I like that one! I'am suprised that worked, I thought algae would come under plants under the CITIES act? I went to my lfs in London and he said that the permit will be about £40 a box! I will also have to travel to the airport to collect and I'll be in for at least a 5 hour wait...
  12. Is exporting small pieces of live rock to the UK legal?

Mary, I'd like to buy some True Florida Ricordea from the US, most average at around $7 to $15 a polyp so their not really an endangered species. If I had an exporter in the US with their original CITES, is obtaining an import permit here in the UK all I have to do?
  13. Is exporting small pieces of live rock to the UK legal?

Hi Mary, So do I need the original CITIES from the exporter or does the exporter need this document to send coral to me? If a hobbyist wanted to send me a small frag or visa versa, would that be easier than going through a business?
  14. Is exporting small pieces of live rock to the UK legal?

If I had the relevent importers licence, will the export of LR or corals be a problem? I'am after the licence for imports of for non-commercial use. Does such a licence exist? I've sent an email to CITES a few days ago but have not recieved a reply. It's a simple transaction from the US to the...
