    yeah its detritus. my tanks over a year old and I do water changes and sift the sand once a week. I just upgraded my return pump a few days ago and that seems to not let anything settle in the sand so hopefully that will work if not fighting conch here I come lol

    yeah im just trying to get the detritus out. my sand bed has brown all over ,t. and my snails and hermits do nothing, my fire shrimp just stays on the rock work. I just need somthing to move the sand so it doesnt get all clumpy when i do siphon it.

    if you still have that algea problem, i bought a phosphate reactor with phosguard and it took care of my algea problem real quick. maybe invest in one if you have the money and space
