  1. Sps Acro Question

If you keep a good distance, between corals, and use carbon, on a regular basis, it will alleviate a lot of the problems caused. However, yes there are certain corals that can cause aleopathic problems, with SPS corals. Leather corals, Green Star Polyp, and Zoanthids top the list.
  2. Can I treat with interceptor and FWE at the same time?

What the heck does YMMV mean? LOL
  3. New Corals - ID please

1 and 3 are definitely acropora and #3 sure looks like Acro Valida to me...as BreefCake said. I recently got one myself so have been studying it a lot lately. Looks a lot like mind and most pics I've seen. I really don't think #2 is an Acro though. Just doesn't have the same Corallite or...
  4. Black Hitchhiker - ID Please

Kinda hard to see but it's kind of shaped like a flat worm. If so, they're bad!!
  5. Coral Problem

I think it has to do with new collection areas. It seems I recently read that they used to be collected from rather shallow areas, back then, they were very easy to keep. Now they're being collected from much deeper areas and have become almost impossible to keep alive for more than a few months.

mr X is right. I missed that last time I looked. Keep the Xenia. When it comes to controlling it, it's not difficult. Just keep it pruned back. It's very easy to cut and grow frags of. As for the Green Star Polyp, that can be a totally different story...lol. In some tanks, it will encrust...

  8. Id.. Can't find on the web...

Keep in mind that if it is Majano anemone...though the rock may be easy to get to...they're notorious for moving. They can move all the way across your tank rather quickly and plant themselves in a more difficult spot to get to and then become a real pest.
  9. whats this? the red one

    Kenya Tree maybe?
  10. something free...what is it...updated 4/7/07 (more freebees)

Xenia...as mentioned above...be careful where you put it if you want to be able to control it's spread. I think the reference to aiptasia was meant to describe it's ability to quickly spread. Other than that, it's nothing like aiptasia. Aiptasia is actually a stinging anemone that's nasty...
  11. Hitch Hicker on live rock.

I'd guess a Discosoma Mushroom!! Congrats!!
  12. What is the biggest bang for my buck in a protein skimmer?

50 gallon and under...Remora or Aqua C Urchin. 55 and larger...Remora Pro and Urchin Pro can't be beat!!!
  13. Coralline Growth

You can't really arrange your rock in any way to increase coraline growth on the glass. It takes time for your tank to mature to that level. Keep your Ca and Alk levels up, as well as balanced and as long as you have coraline in your tank, you'll soon have it on your glass as well. We all get...
