  1. Yellow tang with reddish areas

Thanks guys, I'll try soaking. I happen to have some Zoe at home, but wasn't sure what to use it for (came with some used equipment I bought heh).
  2. Yellow tang with reddish areas

I've got a year old tang with reddish spots on his sides; he's had these on and off, and I can't find a reason, other than we've not been consistent on the brand of dried seaweed for him. I've read that the reddish areas are something like bruises, where blood is near the skin surface, and it's...
  3. Bumble Bee Goby in Saltwater Tank

YES, I have seen it done in a fellow reefer's tank; he had two or three of them. They aren't very active, best I can tell, but do add some color. He said all he had to do was acclimate them to the salinity level over a number of hours, and they've been happy ever since.
  4. Rockscaping

I don't know if I would call this "aquascaping", I just didn't have enough rock. However, this is how I setup my 100G a few weeks ago, and I'm liking it: http://shagman.org/hobbies/pets/100g-reef/P0004916.jpg http://shagman.org/hobbies/pets/100g-reef/P0004918.jpg ... I didn't show these in...
  5. Featherdusters and an anemone question

That's a good point; the featherdusters do add to the look of the tank. Any tips on keeping a LTA? As you can see, the one in the pic has never looked completely white/clear/healthy as he did in the store. I feed him small salad shrimp (warmed/thawed in hot water) once every few days, but I'm...
  6. Featherdusters and an anemone question

Well, drat! How come I always get the UNWANTED hitchhikers (sponges, small featherdusters, bubble algea)? :P Thanks for the response.
  7. Featherdusters and an anemone question

Guys, I bought a live rock from a local pet store that had a featherduster colony on it (guy who dug it up for me just charged me the regular $5/lb. for it)... the featherdusters are growing and reproducing like MAD; what I'd like to know is: are they going to be fullsized ones (the kind...
  8. new turbo snails being lazy?

A last note: I checked my tank here at work after the weekend, and found that three of the guys had made their way up the glass, so all seems well. The 4th one was grazing on my liverock. There must have been a period of shock for the poor guys. Thanks everyone!
  9. $160 100GPD RO/DI systems F/S on eBay??

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1323429083 Has anyone had any experience with these?? It sure sounds like a killer deal, just hook up your water source, and plumb to a large tupperware container for RO/DI water storage! Am I missing something? I thought RO/DI systems...
  10. new turbo snails being lazy?

Hey guys, I bought a batch of four turbo snails from the LFS; I acclimated them (along with ten hermits) into a small 10G I have at work; as soon as I put them in, they haven't really moved! One of the turbos is very slowly (2" in two days) moving across the sand, but the other three are...
  11. The US NATIONAL AQUARIUM (check it out!)

Hahahaha, that's horrible! Good writeup/pics, thanks *jots that on his list of places NOT to go*
  12. Should I buy a 200 bucket of IO?

Those are $59 locally for me (as a data point)
  13. two id's from new rock (pics included)

Well, I put some LR in my FO tank finally... pretty dull rock, it's been scrubbed TOTALLY clean, and wasn't too live looking if you ask me... BUT, I found two things of interest that hitchhiked with the rock! Here's the first one: it's a white tube, about the diameter of a pencil lead, that has...
  14. berlin method/skimmer/setup question

Well, I'd definitly want to have a tank with an overflow box rather than have it drilled; I'm just trying to keep it kind of simple and semi-cost effective (I priced a reef-ready tank and it was about $600 more than a non-drilled tank).
  15. berlin method/skimmer/setup question

Hey guys, I know you guys get tired of these "new setup" questions, but here goes: I'm closing on a house in the next week or two, and I'm immediately going to start purchasing stuff for a 110G/wide display reef tank. I want to try a tank with the berlin method... for filtration I'm...
