  1. glass thickness question

Sorry. The above post should say 2' wide, not 2"!
  2. glass thickness question

FWIW, my tank is 7' long X 2" wide X 2.5' high. Glass is 3/4 inch (18.75 mm) thick. The manufacturer didn't think 1/2 inch (12.5 mm) thick glass would be strong enough in the long run. Maybe he over did things but I set up the tank last March and it's still intact. Better safe than sorry when...
  3. Copperbanded Butterfly Questions...

My Copperband won't touch anything but frozen blood worms and mysid shrimp. You might give those a try. Good luck.
  4. How to set large tank on styrofoam without...

The styrofoam survived intact when my 260g was installed. If you're carefull with placement, there shouldn't be any issues. If you're not carefull, the styrofoam will be the least of your problems!
  5. sand rock from florida???

I picked up dead rock from Florida beaches a few years ago. I let the rock sit dry for several few months then srubbed and washed off anything loose. No problems.
  6. Has anyone fed

Dulse (brown seaweed) is also good. My Rabbit Fish prefers it to nori. Cost is comparable to nori and it's available at most grocery stores (seafood section).
  7. skimmer comparisons

I don't know about the Bullet but I had an EV-180 on the 120g I just took down. The skimmer was good but I wouldn't rate it as great. The EV-120 probably wouldn't be sufficient for your 125g (depends on bioload). I replaced the 120g with a 260g and have an Aerofoamer 830 with a Blueline 70...
  8. Lawnmower Blenny

Mine was aways rasping film algae from the glass. Once I cleaned the hair algae (which he wouldn't touch) off the rocks, he kept the rocks clean. Never had hair algae again. Also ate flake food, mysis and brine shrimp.
  9. small flea problem

We went through the same problem this summer. With no host (dog, cat...) the adult fleas should die off soon enough. For now, vacume the area frequently to suck up any eggs or larvae that remain. You should do the whole house, not just in front of the tank. Good luck.
  10. New tank - deciding on livestock - any problems here?

MotleyZoo, I've had a Falco Hawkfish for about three years now. Great personality and never any health problems. I introduced three, 1 inch, cleaner shrimp after I got the Falco. He went after them right away but the shrimp were too big for him to eat. By the next day, the Falco seemed to...
  11. Damsel Tanks..anyone have one?

There's your answer. A school of Domino Damsels in a 30 ft. tank should get along! :D
  12. Advice for feeding my fish

I pre-soak my flake food in tank water and then pour the mixture into the tank. This spreads the food to all levels rather than having it sit just at the surface.
  13. New Aerofoamer skimmers

There was a skimmer comparison on the web (can't seem to find the link anymore) that ranked the Aerofoamer just ahead of Euroreef and AquaC in terms of performance. I don't recall what they said about build quality though. Anyone have bad experiences with Aerofoamer's construction quality?
  14. Getting Copper out of a tank?

I had the same experience as sjfishguy. Treated Ich with copper right in the main tank, after removing all inverts, and used polyfilters to remove the copper afterwards. Just keep replacing the polyfilters until they stop turning blue. Also did several water changes. That was several years ago...
  15. New Aerofoamer skimmers

Has anyone set up one of Aerofoamer's new skimmers? Among other changes, there is no longer a collection cup. I'm thinking of buying the new 830 for a 260g tank I'm planning and am looking for any feedback on this new design. Thanks in advance. Steven
