Mine gets sand from combing the bottom of the tank...They dissappear in a day. always happens. One thing I've learned in my short tenure in marine fish and reef keeping. Never over react to a sick fish. Always try and let nature turn its course. I've had clownfish that look really bad and within...
I was doing a water change with the 5gallon jugs and I had a glass heater in it....pulled it out and it exploded whooops...What heater do you guys use for heating your new water..I have a marineland plastic one that I'm using now and it seams to work ok....any suggestions?
Ok I thought topping off with crystal geyser was ok...but It has quite a bit of phosphate in it. It says DI water on the bottle...The guy at the LFS told me to get an RO unit. Damn this hobby is getting crazy....
I used crytal geyser for a while but I was getting cyano bacteria...now I take 5gallon buckets into my work(biotech company) and get RO/DI water and my cyano is gone.
Well this is what I have found out so far...Flowerpots like tanks that aren't as clean as most tanks...They prefer tanks without skimmers and your supposed to have alot of nutrients in the tank...which sucks because I have a torch coral as well in there...My flowerpot is doing well so far..its a...
Magnesium...I haven't heard about testing for that on a regular basis.....I usually test for phosphate also. Calcium and DKH is a must though...I've noticed once you add coral the calcium levels will drop a bit without supplements. Usually once you start dosing some sort of calcium you'll start...
He's right about the bakpak being to small. You can upgrade the bakpak using an airstone and a pump to generate more micro bubbles to increase the skimmate. I have mine on a 29 gallon and it barely does the job.
How old is your tank??? Corals do all kinds of wierd stuff..I have some torch coral that I could swear sometimes looks like its dying then the next day its good as new...I hope your tank isn't younger than a few months...It needs to be at least 6-months old for brain coral.
My calcium...Its 350ppm which I thought was low considering I've been using catalina NSW....I have some kent liquid calcium..but it doesn't seem to raise the ppm much at all after 3 capfuls. I'm guessing I need to get some kalkwasser????
I just bought a torch coral on Sunday...now today I notices some of the tentacles on one of the branches are darker in color and retracted slightly...all of my water parameters are good...calcium 450ppm, sg 1.0245, nitrates 5..p04 = 0. ....any advice...its almost to the top of the tank...Does it...
I just bought this kit and tested my water...it took 15 drops of the last reagent to get to the color...I use catalina natural saltwater and I know the calcium level isn't 950ppm. It seems like the last reagent is really hard to get out of the bottle...could it be bad??
