There seems to be too much water movement for a film but I have no skimmer. I do use an overflow on my 55 gal. to a sump and then refugium with cal.... (sorry CA residence).

I've had a peanut worm just like the one you described for about a year now and it hasn't bothered anything. I actually have several and have not noticed any problems.

What is a good bit of time? I've seen a britle star leg move around for about 6 weeks until it stopped moving. Unless you got enough of the disc to include the medula or nerve ganglion or whatever it's called, it might not continue to develop. IMO.

From my "build it yourself" experience, the depth didn't affect the level as much as the width. I finally settled for about 1/4" and the depths are given were good.

What are you going to keep in it. I feel the tank should match the inhabitants you expect to keep.
