  1. Where can I get a sump for a 75 gallon for a good price onli

I purchased a 20 gallon used tank from my LFS. $10. drilled two holes for in and out, sand bed, macros, light voila -- instant refugium. The LFS stores around Houston have old tanks piled up around the back of the stores. Never hurts to ask
  2. Small Hole on side of Wachman Goby

Do you have tangs in your tank? Those testy little devils will barb nearly anything. My female clown developed a nasty gash overnight and the only thing I found that could be doing something like that was the tangs. They swim agressively backwards and extend their barbs to nail whomever is in...
  3. My Fighting Clownfish

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this is a common thing when they reach sexual maturity and the female becomes a real female.
  4. drilling glass?

I have just drilled two holes for my new refugium and, while it took some time and about $6, it was a successful attempt. At Lowes or Home Depot you can get diamond engraving bits for a Dremmel tool. I superglued a slice off of a PVC end cap that had the inner diameter of the hole I wanted to...
  5. Spotted Mandarin and a Stingray

Neither do Mandarins...they just slowly starve to death.
  6. Eheim pump failure

My second hand CO2 reactor's Eheim pump quit pumping. Any of you have any ideas on what I can do to try to revive it before I part with more of my money? It is the small 1048 model. I took it apart last night and found the impeller spins and the motor runs but it won't pump any water.
  7. Refugium Is Done... Now What?

I had 3 types of macro from one of the Hawaian outlets. The "Tang Heaven" was certainly well named cuz they loved it. I moved the grape to the main tank as an experiment and it is still being ignored. I could not get the red to grow in the refugium, but I'm gonna try again.
  8. Need help with QUIET equipment

I had the same problems. The initial noise was solved by the Durso, but then the return line kept "flushing" and the noise was awful. I read yesterday that having a T connection on the line from the overflow will quiet it down if it is half under water and half out of it. I'm gonna try that...
  9. Missoula MT

I don't know about clubs, but the supply side is awful. I have had to travel there off and on, and to pass the off hours, I of course went looking for LFS. Some of them actually knew what a reef was....they thought. Their saltwater "section" was a couple of 10 gallon tanks with live rock rubble...
  10. RO filter

Since I am asking questions.... I replaced the membrane and both prefilters as well as adding a flush kit on my Kent 24 gal RO. Since then, the discharge (dirty)water pours out at a much greater rate than before. Not as much as when you flush the membrane, but a lot more than the steady drip...
  11. Can't get it up

Sorry, it's not what you were thinking. tsk tsk My son convinced me that we needed a Ca+ reactor when our 180 was doing absolutely great with Kalk and buffers. (softies, shrooms, clams, and a few hard corals) At this same time my pH monitor's battery went south. We purchased the reactor and...
  12. VHO's stopped working

My 2 VHO's on my 180 have suddenly just stopped working. Any ideas on how I can test the bulbs or the connections?
