  1. Can it rain in my fish room

If you want to spend some money have you looked at air exchangers/HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATOR's? It acts like a dehumidifier with tons of other very positive benifits. I have one it's great. http://www.lifebreath.com/life.htm Dave
  2. Fire Urchins

Thanks for the info.To bad they would not work in a reef, they look cool. I'm surprised it's even for sale. (well not really surprised) Dave
  3. How old is your oldest fish?

I have a tomato clown that is at least 9 yrs. old and some damn damsel that is 6 years old. I hate that damsel and so does every fish in my tank. How do we really know how old any of our fish are? The question should be how long have they been in our tanks other then that age is a guess is it...
  4. Fire Urchins

Any body know much about Fire Urchins? Can't find much about them except the sting can be bad. Dave
  5. who's got what RO system...

  6. Setting up a new system and have equipment questions.

I recently bought a Deltec skimmer, very nice product. It and as manyskimmers have a drain on the skimmer cup that can drain into a bucket sink or what ever. I could leave it a while with out touching the cup but I do clean it every few days for the best skimming. If you want they offer a self...
  7. Surface scum

I see- good point. Yes a pic of the set up would help. Dave
  8. Surface scum

IMO you don't want to agitate the scum that'll just put it back into the water. I'd direct it so it goes over the over flow or how ever your skimmer is hooked up. Skim that scum. Dave
  9. Should I try to keep a 6 year old reef alive, or start a new

Aiptasia eating Berghia Nudibranch you could try these? http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... ost6146861 Dave
  10. Surface scum

That scum or slick is what you want to skim. How is it you have a overflow and a hang on skimmer? Is the hang on skimmer on your sump? Is your over flow a corner overflow? Dave
  11. Re-circulating needle-wheel skimmers .... roll call

I've always liked the bigger Aquamedics they work well. The smaller ones always seem to be in a state of adjustment. Dave
  12. Question for those with basement sumps

All depends, my hood is always vented (open top canopy) and I don't run any fans. My sump is in the basement I do run a chiller however. My water volume is about 450g. If you're thinking running a big tank, sump two floors I'd just get a chiller, end the debate it rules. Dave
  13. Calcium Reactor.. Whats Hot, looking for the best...

That's it, pretty quiet it's your chance to slam or hype up some products. Nobody using any of my product choices? Dave -LA-Lawman I'll look in to that reactor a bit more, thanks.
  14. Calcium Reactor.. Whats Hot, looking for the best...

Looking to upgrade, I've been running an AquaMedic 1000 reactor flawlessly for years but my water volume and CA consumption has maxed out its output. My water volume is about 500 gal. including display, frag tank and sump. So my short list of pics would be: Canreef 2-24 (looks really good...
  15. Ocean Motions

FWIW I have my 4Way split into eight. That's the nice thing about the units the combinations of plumbing are endless. Dave
