Golden Angels are a deep water species and should be light acclimated. They also seldom eat prepared foods. Most accounts I have read is that they almost exclusively pick algae off live rock. Perhaps after decent time in captivity (ie a few years) they may take to prepared. They are also very shy. I would consider these a more expert (and/or renegade) fish to attempt.
Although beautiful (that picture doesn't do them justice), GLWS!!!
I have one in our show 220 tank very cryptic moves in an out of the rocks barely noticeable i had him in a quarantine tank for two weeks never eating once, always freaking out when i approached the tank. Know he has been in the display for a month. this week after about 3 weeks of moving around in rock caves he has been coming out a lot more. Only have seen him pick at rotifers during a fish feeding frenzy. Cool little fish so sneaky still very hard to eat prepared foods gonna take time for him to associate me with food.
In the tank are
8 randall anthias
3 purple queen tuka anthias
2 male dispar anthias
5 garden eels
Naso blonde lg
Purple tang sm
And a pair of swallowtail angels.
this is a expert only fish, that needs a really matured tank to survive as it mainly will only pick at rock work for awhile before becoming accustom to eating pre-pared foods
That is what I heard too but I put them into a brand new tank and they are eating pellets like champs!
From what I understand they are as reef safe as most dwarfs but if and when they pick at coral its usually not to the point of killing them. I don't have any coral though so can't comment on that aspect.
Golden and juvi goldflake both seem happy together and eating frozen very well.
Seems to leave LPS alone except fathead dendro which I have to move
Very happy with this particular golden because he's not shy and come out together with goldflake all the time
Crox99 what do you feed yours? I use mainly spirulina misys and they absolutely go crazy
Looking to add a juvi Red Sea regal but very difficult to find - anyone seen one for sale?
