I'm not disagreeing with you on that part, just the part about sps frags in a new system. in an established system sps frags will recover and flourish quickly.

If a store charges me $40 a frag just because its on a plug and has a growing base than give me the $10 frag and I'll take my chances.

I've been doing this also for 16 years and happily admit that I'm still learning.

if you want to put it that way. to tell you the truth encrusting does not mean anything to most reefers anymore... they will buy a frag (not high end and doing this) But they will Snap off the little bit of encrusting part and toss it and re glue it on the Rock work. ive done it a few times as well. so Would you consider that a fresh cut frag before entering your system?

i might still be new and im having fun and learning and annoying people everyday about it, But half the time with the drip acclamation with the Corals sometimes is good, but most of the time i never really do it. never got a death from doing so either.

just saying There is nothing wrong with a fresh cut frag from another persons tank or stores tank, if your tank is new then you should not be buying coral/Fish enough said on that part. imo if the coral in the store does not look good or is dying, either you take a risk of taking a frag and it dying or you can rescue it, but its a healthy coral you have a slim chance of it dying in less you are putting it from like 4 DKH into a 11DKH lol thats just silly tho. anyways i still buy all types of frags fresh cut or healed. sometimes you dont even remember the difference after 3 weeks cause its already encrusting by then.

IMO this hobby is just as expensive as any other, yet ,,,,cheaper than collecting stamps or baseball cards or comic books,, my fav coral besides acans is the Scoly,, and you can't frag one of those,,if you like the coral make sure your water is right ask whatever store your in what their water levels are and pull the trigger,,also nobody in that store gives anybody a stink eye I've seen these guys take all day to eat a sand which because they're so busy,

IIRC... There are threads about people fragging scolys!

yes with many success a guy Did some quarter size Frags with a piece of mouth on each of them a few months later it healed up and its almost Round :) awesome what good husbandry can do with good water quality.

I don't want Max Reefs chopping up all there colonies anyways because some of us have large tanks that a colony will sit nice and grow with plenty of room not a plug!

But thats good. It will keep the people from digging in the dang reefs for a while if they start to frag them 0.o much cheaper to purchase one at that point as well.

the people interested in this hobby grows exponentially,,no way anything not on that endangered coral list is safe...they should do a mass aquaculture for the master scoly,,,,,,how did we get here from the original post,,can a mod move this to the nudibar or something?
