Trick when you want to shoot insects

Capture them in a container and put in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour. That will slow them down and then when you put them into the right setting you'll have a minute or two were they will be pretty still.

Just some quick point and click type shooting with the D90, 55-200mm lens

I can see where the general click and shoot camera cannot compare to a pro DSLR already even though everyone, including me, agreeds that GREAT picture can only be acheived with skills and arts. But without a precision tool, even some fair quality pictures cannot be shot.

Environment like this is an example: object constantly moving, color of the area changes all the time, lighting intensity of the area is constantly changing, flash is not alllowed, no room for tripod, and distant of objects are far.

All shots are taken with no flash, auto mode, and no tripod. The focus and exposure auto programming of D90 is so fast that I can literally take pictures of each contestant's face even as they are matching out of the stage.

All in All, I love this Nikon.

1st pic shoot at 35-50 ft range
2nd pic shot at 100-200 ft range
3rd pic shot at 100-200 ft range

pictures saved in jpeg and scaled down for web posting in jpeg again, so there were 2 times of compression already.

Great pictures everyone.

Harry... wtf man. those macro pics are sick. U been taking photography class lately or what? hehe Good job!
Thanks Alan. Photo classes? Nah I was always into photography.Just getting better with practice. I had Nikons when they were still using 35mm film.

Gary,
You got to share the secret of using the macro with me.

When you do the macros of fluorescence corals, please let me look over your shoulders.
Hey Wingnuts " Who's Gary???" :lol2: You shoot better corals pics than I do. I should be asking you for the tips. Btw nice pageant pics. Man you are into everything. I see you bought the D90. You will be happy with it.
Capture them in a container and put in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour. That will slow them down and then when you put them into the right setting you'll have a minute or two were they will be pretty still.
Thanks for the tip Brian
Does this work for wives as well?

House

u can always use a monopod...:tongue1:

Does the D90 auto change the ISO to 1600?

u can always use a monopod...:tongue1: no room even for that as too many people bumping into me, so sad no pageant bump into me.

Does the D90 auto change the ISO to 1600? YES. I did a "reset defaults" before taking these pics to experiment the auto functions of it before starting to explore deeper manual functions.

All in All, I love this Nikon.

saving in jpeg 1st time by the camera
saving in jpeg again by photoshop after crop and scale down
so totally the jpeg compression formula has been applied twice.

Tribute of Light & Lady Liberty

Just messing around... Seeing other people's pictures gives me motivation to try new things; otherwise just pass me the remote!

Here's one last one... Feel free to critique it.
