Water Changes will lower your nitrates. How long has the tank been up? How much live rock do you have? Is it finished it's cycle?

Is the Protien skimmer running? What are you filtering with? What are you testing with? When was your last water change?

yea you def. wanna get those nitrates low before you setup the reef...

the most ive ever seen my nitrates were at a 5ppm and never seen em since then..... do alot of water changes moderatly (*dont do them all at once cause u will shock everything in the tank*) i would do 5 gallons every other day or 2 until u get ur nitrates down.. let us no how that goes... also its not going to vanish overnight... give it some time.. good husbandry will do your tank some justice...
