you can't really unless its thick in that case you'd be able to do it with a razor blade but I wouldn't bother because it can just grow back where scratches to the glass and/or acrylic are forever.

I'll keep saying it until someone backs me up... Magic Erasers work wonders on glass or acrylic, and doesn't cause any harm to the tank. Just make sure you use the unscented ones.

This question is relative to your livestock....with that said, i like ESV 2 part. However, now that i have a small tank (34 gl), i use ESV salt and do not dose anything ever. Both my solanas are heavily stocked mixed reefs and I do 13 gl WC every 2-3 weeks.

hey rookie wouldnt you still have to dose seeing that you only do weekly water changes and alk can be depleted quickly in a 24 hour period and cal will be soaked up in a week.just curious.i thought the esv is great to keep your levels stable during water changes?

If you can't test for it, don't dose it. That being said, trace elements is a bit of a broad term, and most of them can't be tested for. The only things I would worry about ever dosing are the big three, magnesium, calcium and alkalinity. Magnesium should be taken care of mostly by water changes, but testing for it occasionally it's good practice. Alkalinity and calcium can be taken care of by part a and b chemicals. If you try to go beyond that, you're really only complicating your reef keeping and dosing things with no real proven gains.

For my 155 Bow Front mixed reef (sps, lps, leathers, zoa, polyps, and many fish) I simply do water changes. But then again I am not trying to grow out my animals at top speed.lol
As already stated on previous post, if you can't test for it don't dose it. I do have alk, mag, and cal on stand by just in case, but so far I've only used them once or twice in over 3 years.;) I find that if I stay on top of my w/c everything stays healthy.;)
