Clean the neck and skimmer cup every 2 or 3 days or when it is dirty even a little dirty around the neck can cause the skimmer to lose performance ,

@ Xxxangeloxxx hey that statement you made is incorrect the skimmer neck is just as important to be cleaned as the cup is, when you first learn about a skimmers operation you should have learned this , not trying to bash you or put u down that's not me just trying to through some knowledge at you lol

By not cleaning the next is backwards from what u said , not cleaning the neck will cause the skimmer to work a lot less poorly as for cleaning the neck and the cup "NOT LETING EITHER HAVE A CHANCE TO GET DIRTY" will cause the skimmer to run at its best performance

Angelo, did you talk to the woman at Drs. Fosters & Smith.lol Going back quite a few years this woman at Drs. F & S insisted that one should never clean the neck of the skimmers cause it would slow the skimmer down.
God I'm thankful for places like RC & MR with lots of info to correct all the nonsense out there.
Anyway, clean the neck of the skimmer, and the collection cup when ever you empty the collection cup. Especially if it has accumulated a thick coating of muck on it.
Besides, how else are you going to see where the foam is at?
