None of my tangs [Yellow, Purple, Sailfin, Hippo, Powder Blue] pick on any of the other fish. Which consist of: Snowflake clownfish, Benggai Cardinal, Mystery Wrasse, 4 line wrasse, possum wrasse, Majestic Angelfish, Flame Angelfish, Niger Trigger, Royal Gramma.;)

How long have they been together... are the Tangs still relatively young? I've been reading a lot and it seems as they get older they will become more aggressive. How often do you feed seaweed? That seems to keep aggression down as well. How big is your tank too?

On another note... does your Niger Trigger pick on anyone? I've heard they're nasty!

I agree with big dog, a lot of experts here, discourage you, but base on my personal experience my tangs get along with themselves and other fish, granted that sometimes they get a bit territorial, but no prison violence type of thing in my tank!!! No killings...,

Remember, this is a hobby is meant to be fun and uplifting, not stressful. Just be cautious. Learn as much as you can. And I'm sure you will enjoy your beautiful tangs. GL brother.

Couldn't have said it better! Been doing this for about 4 years now and there's always something new to learn... here's my tank thread. I started with a 12g then went to 54g now working on the 120g Long.

@Marrone, goes without saying that you want them to live long healthy lives, but just bothers me when some people tell you something like their opinion is the last word, like they are marine biologist or something. It ruins the whole experience of having a hobby, that's all brother, that's all.

Hey it all depends on the tangs attitude, like people we are all different. I have quite a few tangs in my 180 and all are peaceful and get along just fine just keep them nice and fat and good water quality is the main thing... I have a hippo, yellow,2 sailfin, a purple, orange shoulder, and a blond naso they reside with a fox face 2 hold stripe maroon clowns , corris wrasse ,( I think) a Christmas wrasse, flame angel, and a mandarin.

The Hippo I've had for 5+ yrs., the Yellow & Sailfin about 2 or 3 yrs., the Purple about a year, and just added the Powder Blue a little over a week (this guy replaced the one I lost last year). They are all [with the exception of the Yellow] in the 5" to 6". The Yellow is about 3"+, so no babies. Nori sheet is fed daily in the mornings, in the evenings they get a mixture of Formula 1, Large Angelfish, Dwarf Angelfish, Cyclopeez, Psymisys, frozen cubes, Nutra Mar, and Frozen Mysis Shrimp. Alternate days they also get Rotifeast & Oysterfeast. All soaked in Selcon, VitaChem, and Vitamin C. The tank is a 6' 155 gal. bowfront. I definitely would not recommend these many tangs in nothing smaller then a 6' tank, the bigger the better. Plus you need to keep up with diligent tank maintenance as they do poop a whole lot.
I also suspect that as they get larger I will eventually have to thin out the herd. When? I have no idea, only time will tell.

The Niger only picks on any new fish that goes in the tank, which in turns gets all the fish chasing the new guy. He just spent a month on time out in the 20gal. until I finally found a good replacement for my old PBT. He is now back in the 155 gal. tank behaving himself. Other then that he is cool, but then again he is not big yet. Biggest issue I had with the Niger was when I stupidly added 2 tiny naked clownfish. Yes, he killed them.;( That was a nightmare.:(

Totally forgot about my Calloplesiops altivelis (AKA Marine Betta or Cometfish). It came with my gf's tank back in 2006. Lee had it a few years before she passed, and I ended up with her tank. Shy, but still a beautiful hearty fish!!!

My current tank has: Ocellaris Clownfish Pair, Spotted Mandarin Pair, Green Bulb Tip Anemone, Algae Blenny, 3xFirefish, 3xBlood Red Fire Shrimp, Sand-sifting Starfish, Green Emerald Crab

Here's my wishlist for the upgraded 5 foot long 120 gallon tank... what does everyone think? I realize I might have to trim it down in a couple of years once the fish start getting bigger. But I have a great skimmer and will be doing weekly 15% water changes. I will be buying juveniles. This is in order of preference....

-Sunset Anthias - 1 male, 3 female
-1 male and 3 female of either Melanurus Wrasses or Christmas Wrasses, can't decide yet.
-A school of Chromis, I want Blue Reef Chromis but they will get up to 5" in size so probably something smaller
-Pair of Blonde Naso Tangs (if I can get it)
-Blue Caribbean Tang
-Yellow Pyramid Butterfly
-Longspine Cardinal x5
-Zebra Barred Dartfish x3
-3x Yellow Tang
-Watanabei, Bellus or Spotbreast Angel
