Thanks avibrandy looks great. What size is your storage container. For me space is a factor. I was thinking a big bucket I can put under tank in cabinet stand. After I finish my planning and setup, thank you for pic and info.

My Brute is a 40 gallon. I have a 155 gallon tank, and I do weekly 20% water changes plus I need a steady supply of fresh water to fill the 10 gal. ATO. RO/DI are wonderful, but they do take for ever to filter the water. My unit takes all day to make the 40 gallons. Therefor a smaller container would not do.

Yes, you can mix salt in it, and yes you can have a smaller container for top off. I prefer to not mix the salt in my 40 gallon Brute because I like having fresh RO/DI water on hand at all times for my Automatic Top Off container. I have a 10 gallon tank in my tank's stand that needs to be filled a couple of times a week. I mix the salt in a 5 gallon container when I am doing my water changes.
BTW, don't forget to add an Automatic Top Off unit, and a Refractometer to your list of things to get.;)

I have a 6' 155 gallon. I keep a 10 gallon in the stand along side the sump. The ATO hangs on the side of the 10 gallon. Nothing is visible until I open the doors to the stand.

Do a search on Automatic Top Off.;)

I have a container i bought at walmart that holds a bit under 5 gallons. I have it raised up in my stand by a second container of the same type. I keep all my electronics in the bottom container so all that stuff stays dry. I drilled a small hole in the side, near the bottom of the top container and ran 1/4" hose to an Eshopps float valve that sits in my return chamber of my sump. This maintains my water level very smoothly.

There are many ways to setup a top off, all have pros and cons. This is the part of the hobby that makes your tank and design unique and what works for you.

A top of is definitely required as it can prevent damage to your equipment and prevent swings in your salinity that can stress your animals. Find some design or products that look good to you and we can discuss how to setup etc.

Hello everyone how do I use ro/di make water to use for top off. How long it will take to fill up brute container, my plan is to store water for top off and put a container in stand filled up with water for top off use. What size container to use or tank planning on a 150 gallon tank. Plz if any one can explain to me how to use filter, connecting is no problem only lost with making water filling up storage container. Thank you

You can get a 75gpd unit from BRS, then buy an upgrade kit that allows it to go 150gpd for cheaper than a standard 150gpd unit

Unit

Upgrade

+1 was going to suggest this rout as well. I have a 35g brute, but my valve shuts it off at around 25... With my 75 gpd, it fills up pretty quick. Figure 8 hours.

With the RO/DI unit you will have three lines...typically red, blue, and black. The red is what you'll hook up to a faucet or spigot or however you connect it. The blue line is the output that you'll connect to your brute container. The black is waste water and needs to run to a drain.
