I am new to this site also new to salt water set up. I have a 90gal not RR but want to make it that way, how ever this is my set up as of now....1"over low with 3/4" return, with a 37"X15"X16" custom sump, first stage 11X15 second 14X15(refugium) third 6 X15 this sump has a bubble trap. First question..is a mag 12(as pump) a return sufficient for the flow i suppose to have? What should be my flow for my tank? What is a good skimmer for the 90 gal(i had my eye on the aqua C EV 180 is there something better but less expensive)? what tank/sump light should i get?(going do mix coral)that where i am at now, if some one can help to point me on the right path. The reason i seek experience help because there is a lot of equipment for this hobby i did research but as a novice to this game every thing can work. Thanks your help is greatly appreciated.

For a return pump for your 90 I would not go over a mag 9. I used a mag 9 and ehiem 1262 in the past and I had to restrict both pumps. A 1 inch overflow can handle about 6-700 gallons an hour over that it becomes very noisy because of the gurgling the overflow may produce trying to keep up with the flow. In the end I wAs running a mag 7 for my return and Was happy. I used EcoTech mp40 for flow so there was no reason to have that high amount of flow going through my sump/ refugium.
As far as a skimmer I had an aqua c before and it was great. However today there are far more efficient skimmers out there. An aqua c would need a dedicated mag 7 or mag 9 that would add heat to the water

For main flow inside tank you could check out vortech's, tunze, or koralias powerheads.
As for lighting I believe that there is toooo many choices to make a recommendation. At the end of the day it comes down to your preference. LEDs, t5, metal halide, and metal halide +t5 all grow coral really well. I suggest look at some tanks running them and see them in person to help with your choice
