Clam problems

Hi guys,

So for the past 5 months I have been trying to have clams in my 180 tank but they keep dying. So my parameters are all ok and I have acan led lights and I do nt know what the problem is. Anybody has led lights and clams and are doing good with them?

Yeah it may be something other than the lighting , cause a lot of reefers use LEDs and have great clams , I had three clams up until recently , I had ai sol blues and clams did great !!

How long has the tank been running?
You say your params are all ok,What are your parameters?
I know tons of people with clams under LEDs including myself and they do great so it's not your light..

Tank has been running 6 years alkalinity is 9 calcium 480

I called acan lighting and they say it is the salt. What salt are you using

I use. iO reef crystals
What is your salinity how do you measure it?
What about nitrate,nitrite,phosphates?
Are you using Rodi water?

I don't see how they can say it's your salt if they didn't come to your house with test kits!!!

This is true , io has been around for a long time and just cause it's not among the designer salt labels doesn't make it incapable of maintaining clams or anything else for that matter !!! Whoever told you that shouldn't be answering the phone!!

You may have a pest. What do your clam look like when dead and do they show any signs of stress before they die?
