1)Don't turn on light during cycling, let the bacteria to eat up the ammonia nitrite and nitrate rather than letting the algae settle in.
2)Leave it on 24/7. Just ON/Off of powerheads is dangerous to livestock-I lost livestock(and VERY beloved ones too to this.) Fast/slow powerheads is good.
Where should the power head be placed. I have it on the opposite side of the filter blowing towards the middle of the tank is that good? I'm planning on getting zoos is that good enough?
That should be fine. You really know once you start stocking tank and the powerhead can easily be moved. I have moved mine several times as i keep tweaking it to eliminate dead spots. Try to avoid kicking up sand would be only sure thing, other than that play around with it until happy with location
Unless you used the lifeless boxed rock, use the lights. Some of my flow is on a timer this tank around, but this something new to what I was doing for 10 years before this one.
