How long is your tank? My yellow tang is in a 33 long and is happy right now. I knew when bought him that I'll eventually have to give him up. They should have at least 4 ft. of space to swim back and forth across. Like I said, mine is happy now, but will need to go in another few months probably.... or I could upgrade... hmmmm

Some advice to avoid disappointment

Hi,
I don't want to sound like a spoilsport, but you should do some more research before getting any livestock. Look at the Reef budget thread, especially if you're worried about your house renovation.

The simplest type of saltwater tank is a FOWLR; the most complex is an small polyp coral tank. Many people don't recommend anemones in any tank. Those that do agree that water parameters and lighting need to be perfect.

There are a few things that everyone needs. Your own test kit for at least pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate for FOWLR; add Ca, hardness if you want more demanding creatures. For more than FOWLR, you'll need to upgrade your lighting (significantly); this is usually the most expensive part of a setup. Even for FOWLR, your filter is inadequate. I would strongly suggest a skimmer. Depending on your local water, you may need to consider a reverse-osmosis system.

While websites are great, information tends to be scattered. Consider investing in a book (or check the library). Mike Paletta has a very easy to read book (forgot the name). Robert Fenner's The Conscientious Marine Aquarist is also excellent for beginners.

Please don't get the idea that I'm giving you a hard time. Just trying to spare you from learning things the hard (and ultimately more expensive) way.

Andy
