48 inch Photon Series Leds vs 48 inch IT2012

Hey Everyone, my cousin is up to his last need major equipment. He already ordered an octopus reef diablo protein skimmer, went with the reef saver size. He was playing with the ideas of ever grow leds from a variety of sources but than came across a 48 inch model that he is very interested in. Anyone have experience with Photon Series 48 inch from reef breeders? And he is thinking about the IT2012 model from reef supply canada?

If you have advice on other 48 inch led models will greatly appreciate, so far the seller from reef breeders has answered and help out big time through emails in us understanding the leds offered for sale.

Also he will be going with 90 degree optics as his tank is near 30 inch deep.

Btw thanks Rob&Gab for helping me out especially with his skimmer selection through PMs, also the advice takin on leds was delivered however he seems to be in search of 48 inch models now if possible so he can eliminate the need of two fixtures as well as addition of his reefbrite leds.

no problem Bud! i never saw anyone's tank with the 48" models. I would go with reefbreeders cause there a reliable source, i no reefsupplycanada but i would go with Reefbreeders cause of there great fixtures and well spoken team as well as being very knowledgeable in what they do. But its not my place to say who to pick and choose just giving some ideas. Hope he chooses a good company to roll with. always think who is better to pick with quilty and as for response time and if they know what there talking about and if you need to Ship back or get replacement parts will they be able to "reefcanada" talking about. i no reefbreeders are some good guys.

I have the reefbreeders photon 48 on my 120, lights up really nice but i have the 120 optics on it, customer service is awesome. Love how it ramps up from sunrise to sunset in either 30 min or 1hr intervals. I've had it for about a year, no problems what so ever.

I have the photons also (and am a dealer...full disclosure), use them on my own display. Love them. I really like that you can enjoy your tank longer because when they first come on its only 3% on blues. So, I enjoy my tank from7am til 8pm because of the auto dim feature. I also have great growth. Run 90 degree optics and on my 24" tank I keep blues at 55 and whites at 35

What size tank do you have? I will be bringing the value units with me to the swap Sunday. They are my custom layout for maximum growth and color. The values cover about 24" and are $150.
The 16" and 24" both run $300 and the 32" runs $400 shipped.

The layout is a mix of 460nm blues, uvs, 660nm red and green. I've been using this layout on my tanks for over 3 years and have had positive feedback from buyers of my lights.
