HELLLPPP!!!! Sump

i tried to hook up a HOB reef octopuss skimmer (BH-200) i got it running but the flow of my sump was fluctuating. i took out the skimmer and now my overflow box is filling up as well as my display tank and sump is going dry. the tank is pre drilled with a corner overflow 75 gallon tank FOWLR. my display tank and overflow water is at same level. dont know whats wrong or how to fix it. thanks guys....

So your drain is not keeping up with the return? Can you turn down your return or do you have a way to adjust your drain (ie piece of airline tubing or air hole). Also sometimes the overflow box needs to fill up first before suction is created and it levels out which can be a bit nervous until that happens.

thank you but i found the culprit a snail and some of his smaller buddies crawled into the drain and clogged it. Thank God i put unions on i was able to take apart and get the snails out. they were right at the bulkhead stuck. PHEW

put a strainer on your drain. just remember to keep it clear.

If you have the apex I can help you install float switches on tanks and sumps so it will text you if the level ever rises to the point of overflow.

Those are the one i use on one of my tanks they work great. Just every once and a while make sure to use a turkey baster to remove any algae that tends to build up.
