I will go to petsmart because the one I have right now a zoomed that I bought there has stop rotating when in high flow so I will exchange it for something else there they do have the penguin, aquaclear and maxi jets power heads I havent seen the seio there but they might have it. Please help.

I have a fluval 305 canister filter, a 192 watt compact flouresent light, 48 bow front tank. I have 2 clownfish, 70 lbs of live rock, 60 lbs live sand, 1 cleanershrimp, 1 arrowcrab, 20 snails and 20 hermit crabs .

Seio's have a wider spread & softer flow, unlike the MJ which is a jet stream & can annoy corals if the flow is directly hitting it.

It does take up some space & can be a bit more pricey.....but I would definitely go with a Seio.

I had a Flo attached to my Maxijet before also. Takes up a lot of space and actually seemed to make even more of a "jet" of water than the powerhead itself. It's just not constant, since it rotates. Seio is much better, and after the cost of the Flo and the Maxijet, isn't much more expensive.

findingnemp,

FYI, I am not a powerhead user, so I would go with the general sentiment you get here. I just mentioned Maxijets as a default.

findingnemo why would you doubt my expertise. just kidding:biggrin: you may be a little worried @ first when you see your corals swaying around and your fish being pushed around by the current but it is very healthy for a reef tank.

i like to place my seios @ the upper part of the tank. not to high or they will suck in air from the surface and not to low or you may directly hit corals or blow sand around.

any questions you can pm me and i will help you out as best i can.

go with a seio.... as already mentioned they have a wider and softer flow then the maxijets... the only problem is that they add a bit more heat then the maxi and consume a lil more energy... other then that seios are pretty good...

it all comes down to what you think will suit you needs. If you need something for now, for the price maxijet 1200 is great, seio is a better choice if you want to spend a little more money on a slightly better pump.In the future if you decide to go with a more advance setup, you may want to go with a tunze. but it's going to cost you alot more money. What ever you do. stay away from Vortech for now... in your current setup the seio or the maxijet will do just fine. but it's true that the seio is better.

Oh and by the way, don't worry about scarf ace, he's harmless lol

I am currently running both a SEIO 1500 and a MJ 1200 in the same tank. I bought another SEIO 1500 to replace the maxi but haven't done it yet. I guess what I'm saying is, spend the extra $ and go for the better pump. You won't be disappointed.

herman means the pretty picture will help you get all the answers you need. LOL

eventhough your question was directed towards tony, i would like to answer if i may.:j/k:

in the 48bow you can go w/:

2-620 (little flow) or
1-620 and 1-820 (good option) or
2-820 (higher flow- best option-you can always tune the flow down if too much)

to give you an idea i started w/ 2-620s in my 40br and i liked the amount of flow in the tank. it all depends on the amount of flow you want and what you currently have in your tank.

btw what's your name? i hate typing findingnemo it's too long.:tongue1:
