Mushroom Coral not opening up

Just a few days ago, my mushroom coral shrank and hasn't opened up fully for about 3 days now.

It sometimes tries to open up and then curls back closed.

Every single coral in my tank is fully open except the mushroom.

Any solutions on what can be wrong?

Nitrates 0
Phosphates 0.25
Alk 9.0
Salinity 1.026
Calcium 420

Something might be bothering it. The only time any of my shrooms shrink is when they get stung by another coral or picked at by a fish. check what is close to it some LPS corals have sweepers that come out at night.

I only have soft corals in my tank. There is nothing near the mushroom either.

I am thinking it can be a lighting issue?

How long has it sat in that spot for before this happened? Also did you change anything recently? It could be just growing or splitting and you may disturb it or hurt it during that process.

from my own experience with mushrooms might be
1) too much light / too much flow; try dropping it down in the shade might help
2) something wrong with water chemistry( something that you can't/don't test for) chemicals released by corals(leather/palytoxins;zoas,inverts(sea slugs,nudis,cucs) or from exhausted /under filtrated media purigen,phosguard aluminum based media.

what test is telling you 0 nitrates?

After a 15 gallon water change and 4 days later. It opened back up.

Your Phosphate is 0.25? Too high. You reduced phosphate level by WC and the coral opened up. You will have this problem again soon.

I've had phosphate over 5 ppm (not .5) in a fish only with some mushrooms and they've grown and divided like weeds. I doubt very highly that a phosphate level .25 is too high for mushrooms IMO.
