I actually live in the Tri-valley area (South of Sacramento). That was just me being grumpy about our over-active legislation in this state.

Ok, I think I have an Idea for 2 different Algae

Penicillus sp
Halimeda sp

I think I will probably put in Penicillus sp, because I really do not want to have to get too crazy with paramater testing. This is my first marine tank, and I want to keep it simple.

Has anyone had any experience using these plants as decoration? Will they try to over-run my tank.

What I want is for them to out-compete the "ugly" algea for nutrients so that my wife will stop complaining.

I will be adding about 5 lbs of Live rock this weekend, so something may apear anyway.

Thanks again

IMO Halimeda is a good choice. It is a calcerous algae and when it breaks down in your aquarium it will dissentigrate into a fine white grained sand. It also looks attractive while growing and is easy to prune.
