I did a lot of research and looks like to me you could be mistaken. The article that Lawdawg listed was very interesting. Another source I see is the site LiveAquaria.com. They list the suggested SG for all thier livestock. I am going to set my SG at 1.023 to 1.024. Thanks all

IMO 35ppt should be the lowest salinity maintained for most reef organisms.

35ppt equates to a Specific Gravity of about 1.026 at 80F.

Ok I have another question. In my book adventures I have found a lot of information on trace elements. What do you track in your tanks besides the basic 4 we have been talking about.

Second question. I have a pea green covering one of the new LR rocks. I am 90% sure it is not an alge. It has a hard surface and small spines protruding out like a teddy bear cactus. Under the green surface there are pea size round balls laying side by side. Under some of the dead stuff that broke off as I was cleaning the rock is a white rough surface that resembles the inside of a broken hard coral. I know a picture is worth a thousand words. I hope to have a digital in a few weeks.

Thanks

Calcium, ALK, and Magnesium are the only elements I test for. The basic rule is to only dose elements you test for and these are all I ever dose. I rely on water changes for all minor trace elements.
